Because i bought the super duper deluxe elephant edition of Sgt Pepper i got a free copy of the film Let It Be.....haha joking ! No my friend sent me a copy of his bootleg dvd of this film. I'd not seen the film in ages and was a little apprehensive that it would document a divorce on film, however apart from a little sarcastic and catty dig at McCartney from Harrison I thought the band showed deep respect for each other. The bit where Ringo and Paul play some boogie woogie on piano together is lovely. You can see the joy when the band are playing Old Rock'n'Roll favourites again and when they played one of their fist compositions again, One after 909. For me there did seem deep respect between Lennon and McCartney . I really felt the helplessness that McCartney felt with George not wanting to do another film or tv performances let alone live shows. I think the that John and Ringo could maybe have pushed George into a live concert, Paul was obviously up for it thinking of previous times they'd performed in the old days after Hamburg, a bit shaky at first but the more they played the better they got. When they performed semi live Hey Jude on the David Frost show and saw the ecstatic response from the crowd who greeted them like musical messiahs (which is what they were) and also the obvious joy you saw when they performed on the Rooftop at Apple you'd think sure ity didn't just temp McCartney into performing live. I've said this before , that surely when they saw the footage of Woodstock , they must have thought to themselves , we'd have beaten any of these artists by a country mile had we appeared on that bill. Performing live would have kept the band together. I loved seeing the footage of office staff milling about looking up at where this music was coming from , yes some stuffed shirts and the bowler hat brigade were put out but most were just excited to be in the Beatles presence , there's is such an aura about The Beatles.

If you ever get to see the 2 disc Let It Be movie, you see a lot more disdain for each other. You see a lot more of "Yoko and her bed" and more bickering.

I expect Apple will hold back re-releasing this until the 50th anniversary . I better start saving now.

Haven't seen this clip before Mr Kite - thanks for posting. I've seen the 'official' version. My god, they all look properly pissed off, every single one of them. Such a shame. You can just 'feel' the tension almost all the way through the 'Let It Be' sessions. Yoko didn't help matters either! . The beginning of the end? It's well publicised that both John & Yoko were heroin addicts around that time and I'm sure the others were dabbling with drugs too - not just a quick drag of marijuana either. Not conducive to a harmonious atmosphere. Never mind, they held it together long enough to give us the wonderful 'Abbey Road' album which, in anyone's book isn't such a bad swansong.

Paul looks dreadful and seriously ill. History shows that they were fighting and all indulging in stuff not good for them. Barely three years from Pepper and it is well and truly over. Never knew the release was after the break up. I have never seen the film or listened to the Lp in full and not sure if I want to.

I seen the 'Let It Be' movie on the big screen when it was released. Something to behold when you hear it in a big movie theater! I also have it on the original VHS and Beta tapes! Very rare Beatles items!

The two lp's I have never heard in full were The White Album. (very hard work for me) and Let it Be. We all have our favourites, The Beatles albums give us so much to chose from. For what it's worth Let it Be is an ok album , ok in Beatles standards is good compared to other bands. Abbey road was a complete return to form. As for The White album there are some hits and misses , for me not too many misses , . I may be biased as in 86 when i worked in Holland for a few months, on my walkman (remember then) i'd have on a loop The White album, Hounds of Love and Talk Talk , The Colour of spring so these albums will always be high in my admiration. There are so many crackers on The White album, Dear Prudence , Happiness is a warm gun. Helter Skelter , Sexy Sadie and one of the best named songs of all time, Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey. So sit back with a glass of wine and a "jazz cigarette " and take it all in. You can skip revolution number 9 although some on here don't mind it.

I`m a bit shocked Potho`s To be fair Revolution 9 is a bit out there , but the rest of the White album is a perfect example of how The Fab`s changed from singing boy meets girl songs in 65 to Rock , Pop , Folk , Reggie , Country , Blues Rock and beyond ! Horse`s for courses I guess

A bit of trivia, during the famous rooftop concert the police arrived...
... the officer who actually goes on to the roof was offered a beer by Ringo. Years later that officer was the Protection Officer for Princess Di
