I think the 1980's were musically patchy but Robert Plant, Squeeze, XTC, REM, Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush were doing great work.

Yep , I agree with those artists , but that would be easy picking those out for the exercise , they will be my back up if I start to lose my nerves Speaking of which . I typed on Google The Best albums of 1980 And this came up
Heartattack And Vine - Tom Waits (1980)
Not a fan , and I have to say that he seems to have a bit of a following . After this album its hard to see why . I know his voice has that erm, authentic 500 cigs a week and a bottle of whiskey a day feel , but come on . Really . The Music is`nt that bad in some parts , very Van Morrison, I know that does`nt bode well

Ju Ju - Siouxsie And The Banshees (1981)
I like a bit of Siouxsie , but that`s the singles Siouxie though You should never go off an Artist on single alone and I did hear one of her albums back in the day , the one with Helter Skelter It was`nt great This album It was`nt great and the production was poor and it was that "80`s" feel , you know , awful opens up with Spellbound the single a great tune that , and that was it , sadly Stand Out Track Spellbound
141 .
Joy Division next up as its followed Siouxie on the recommendations , 1979 ?!

Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division (1979)
Not a fan to be honest But you can imagine the time this was about it was alternative Again it`s that "whole album" syndrome with me , it does`nt grip me from the off , I struggle to keep focused You see albums like this seem like one long track , there`s no instrumental or a nice acoustic track thrown in or even changed of pace See the problem, or should I say my problem ? Lets take the stand out track She`s Lost Control There is the whole album in 3 minutes From Manchester did`nt you know though ! Stand Out Track She`s Lost Control

The 80`s a flashing by like a bat out of hell This album was in the "Albums of the year " I swear ! 17 minutes long and if you think this sounded all the same , your spot on Is`nt any good ? Not really . Stand Out Track A New England

I would be interested in you opinion on the following LP's Dexys Midnight Runners - Searching for the Young Soul Rebels Talking Heads - Remain in Light. David Bowie - Scary Monsters Super Creeps Prefab Sprout - Steve McQueen Holger Czukay - Movies Never heard any of them all the way through I can help ! But for starters Dexy`s is a no no ,,no ! Remain In Light that is one I have for many many years , big Talking Heads fan . It`s a bloody great album and it`s produced by Brain Eno who was the man at the time . Also this album had the breakthrough single Once In A Lifetime that put the Heads on MTV Not a bad track on this in my humble , but maybe Overload is not everybodys cup of tea but probably the best track on the album ! Scary Monsters I remember buying it when it came out in 80 . Not Bowie at his best , but not his worst It`s that Punk/New Romance period which as you may already know not my fav time for Music I could pick maybe 3 or 4 songs on it that I liked and the rest was a bit below Bowie`s standard Could have been worse it could have been a Disco album .. I will do the other 2 , why not And while I`m here . Did 2 last night . Meat Puppets II - Meat Puppets (1984) If you ever saw Nirvana unplugged you will know who they are In fact Plateau and Lake Of Fire which they do are on here Not a song over 3 minutes and they have that Americana , poor vocals thing going on I can see why they never really hit the big time Stand Out Track Plateau Livin In The Dream - Uriah Heep (2018) Saw these back in the 70`s and then in 2015 ish and they rocked ! And lo they are touring again , so I thought I`d give the new album a listen It Rocks ! Scary that a band almost 50 years old can still come up with a fresh feel and still bring out an album that really stands on it`s own merit Stand Out Track Take Away My Soul 138 137

Steve McQueen - Prefab Sprout (1985)
If anyone would have said to me in 1985 that I would be listening to a Prefab Sprout album in 2018 , I would have laughed and told them that Music won`t even see out 1989 as the music world have come to Videos and style and not much talent . But hey ho So the thing is that this is`nt really an album I should be reviewing as it`s in no way my kinda Music But I will In the first 20 minutes or so it was alright , nice and easy listening and nothing offensive and then When Love Breaks Down come up my ponder was over as I could have sworn I knew one of there songs and that the album sleeve and title was`nt the only thing that I knew of them Then after that it seems to disappear into the wallpaper of the room and does`nt come back out A nice album but not really anything that has you wanting to listen to it again Just a note on the cover of the album though It was one of those album covers that you would buy , just like when you saw Dark Side or Hemispheres A classic cover indeed , shame it does`nt represents the music

Movies - Holger Czukay (1979)
Heck ! The first track.. No , lets back track Just love to imagine back in the day (79) and someone who bought this took it home put the record and dropped the needle on the record and sat down with the sleeve in there hand and it starts and then the words as in mine What the F*** !
And yes folks I did in fact listen to it all the way through I know.. I really should be given a medal with this one To say it`s bad its is an understatement But then again it`s that bad you have to listen to it and ponder like I did think how the F*$8 did this get passed the censers of good taste. And you must get this record for ever you get guests who over stay their welcome , y`know probably saving the Gas bill n that Put this beauty on and watch them grab their coat . Wish I`d stuck to my guns in 79 and practiced more on the guitar and joined a band as I`m sure I would have done better than Holgar . It`s it that bad.. ? I looked at the comments below the Video and there was just one comment and it said "Masterpiece" . Stand Out Track The first one ...

Alright then
Pretenders - Pretenders (1980) via You Tube
Yeh , Pretenders not The . Produced by Chris Thomas ! Yeh, the fella who produced a bit of the White Album and played on Piggies ! Does that make him a 5th Beatle ?
The album . It`s alright , not brilliant but not bad Starts off with lots of attitude and even swearing ! Flags a bit as they go into the 3 minute pop songs and then we have the fantastic Brass In Pocket It sits nicely for the time it came out and I`m not a fan and I guess the Music I was into at time was miles away from this Genre Stand Out Track Brass In Pocket

But I did love The Police and so then Next up The Police album I never bought Ghosts In The Machine

Ghost In The Machine - The Police (1981) Via You Tube
A hit and miss album for me I`m afraid , I have listened once upon a time and then it was ..A hit and miss You have the Every Little Thing You Do Is Magic and One World which could well be Take That and then you have the Demolition Man that could be Rush . It`s not their best and it was the 80`s .. Stand Out Track Invisible Sun
Amaryllis - Catchlight (2018) Via You tube
A French Prog Metal band , and it`s a concept ! It was all right , only trouble was the vocals and as with most European bands that sing in English , it does`nt work 9 times out of time But it did have some great tracks and not so great .. Stand Out Track Prenatal

Jess Parks And Anton Newcombe - Jess Parks And Anton Newcombe (2018 ) Via You Tube
It`s one of those albums that you really need to be in the mood for The "I`m bored and I`ll make you wanna cut your wrists " albums But even though Jess sounds like Patti Smith doing an impression of Courtney Love with Anton playing about 3 chords max It`s not bad ! Stand Out Track N/A
Television Themes - Matt Berry (2018 ) Via You Tube
If you love the 70`s T.V. , well your in for a treat ! A great album and if you have heard Berry before you just know your in for . A fabulous album for a bit of light relief from Jess and Anton Give it a listen ! Stand Out Track World In Action .

Pink Flag - Wire (1979 ) via You Tube Three minute alternative punk rock album That`s about it really Was`nt terrible but then again was`nt great either Interesting though when a song came on called Strange I knew this one as it`s covered by R.E.M. And that threw me as I thought was an R.E.M. song ! Should always read the credits , but when you have the CD and the writing is sooo tiny Kill E`m All - Metallica (1983) Via You Tube Warning Don`t ever drive with Metallica`s first 3 albums , you wont believe how you put your foot down ... Anyway ! The early 80`s (well all of the 80`s) Rock Music was (IMH) an all time low , but I was given a few of Metallica`s album and I bloody loved them ! But it`s been awhile and heck ! they still sound good as they did then after the Metallica album I went off them , well never really got that much into them so much I to drive too ! As a debut album though this really was a killer Metal album Stand Out Track Seek And Destroy also (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth 129 128

And here is a band Rush could have been The Desaturating Seven - Primus (2017) If you have heard this band or not , you must check out there early stuff , it`s insanely bonkers This new album from last year though is ...Bonkers It`s a concept ! Based on a children`s book called The Rainbow Goblins Is it any good ? It`s bonkers .. 127

Songs Of Leonard Cohan - Leonard Cohen (1967)
Have I done this album ? I`m getting a bit lost now and I think I`m well over 200 albums now and that`s not including the over albums I`ve listened too ! Anyway Cohen , Marmite I reckon , but I`m a fan , but some of his stuff is a bit ...Hard work But this album and I always come back to this for it is a beauty When you play some albums from back in the day they give you that feel of those times and this album is one of them Just a great album and is there anything like this album in 67 ? Bob had gone electric and Joan was ...Joan It is an album you must hear in front of an open fire and a few poetry books open on the coffee table . Stand Out Track So Long Marianne .... its time we began to laugh and cry and do it all again ! (It will be in my head all weekend , I know it )

Hey Mr Kite, glad to see you're still doing this. I've got a bit of a suggestion for you in future: Bruce Dickinson - The Chemical WeddingThis is the Iron Maiden singer's fifth solo album and is based on alchemy and the works of William Blake. It's been my favorite album period since earlier this year. I love it and would be interested in hearing your thoughts. I doubt it's the kind of music you usually enjoy but you may get something out of it.
