I remember some of these venues. The Cabaret Club later became the Hollywood and I went there quite a bit. The Casanova Club in London Road was briefly a Casino where I worked as a croupier for a bit. Later it became the Black Cat Club. The Odeon cinema was probably the best in the city centre. Quite luxurious, with a massive screen. I saw Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins and Kingsize Taylor onstage there in 1964. Sadly, the Odeon has gone.

Thinking about the above list, I'm surprised that the Beatles played the Cabaret club. This was a place that catered for an older audience, and there was a strict dress code. The club featured gaming tables, had a dining area, and small dancefloor, which were located over two floors. A far cry from the Cavern.
