I'll start off this thread with one of mine:
So what do you think?
I'll start off this thread with one of mine:
Top 10 Greatest Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Bands
Whether it's louder than hell or rock and rolling all nite, these are the best of the hardest and heaviest music genres.

10. Metallica
Back in the '80s, Metallica dominated the metal industry with their albums Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, and Master of Puppets. And when the '90s came around, they thrashed their way up to stardom with their eponymous 'Black Album'. While they went downhill soon after, there's no denying that they have been a big influence to many artists.

9. Jimi Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix released only three albums before his death in 1970, but even in that short time, he became one of the greatest guitarists of all time. A huge influence to many artists, he was an extremely talented person – heck, he could even play the guitar with his teeth!
8. KISS
While KISS isn't too popular today, they were HUGE in the '70s. Songs like 'Rock and Roll All Nite', 'Calling Dr. Love', and 'Detroit Rock City' are some of the greatest hard rock songs ever, and they have helped the hard rock scene immensely.

7. Van Halen
With a person like Eddie Van Halen, you know it's going to rock. And coupled with David Lee Roth's vocals, Van Halen soared to the top with albums like Van Halen and 1984. Although Lee Roth eventually left the band, Sammy Hagar was a perfect replacement. David Lee Roth has joined again in recent years, and so Van Halen is still doing what they do best – rocking!

6. Deep Purple
Deep Purple wasn't too popular until they release the album Machine Head. The song 'Smoke on the Water' is now regarded as one of the best classic rock songs of all time, and the riff has been regarded as one of the best as well. Other songs like 'Woman From Tokyo' and 'Highway Star' have also helped them take over classic hard rock radio.

5. Rush
Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart have been cranking out rockers like 'Tom Sawyer' and 'Spirit of Radio' for years. Geddy Lee has been considered one of the greatest bassists of all time, and Neil Peart is considered one of the greatest drummers. It's no wonder that Rush has been so popular!

4. Black Sabbath
The pioneers of metal and perhaps the very best of that genre, Black Sabbath has been around since the '70s, and though they've had many line-up changes, they'll always be best remembered for the classic line-up: Ozzy Osbourne on vocals, Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass, and Bill Ward on drums. While they were also good with Ronnie James Dio, the songs from this line-up – including 'Black Sabbath', 'Iron Man', 'Paranoid', and 'War Pigs' – are some of the greatest metal songs of all time.

3. Aerosmith
The 'Bad Boys of Boston' were quite overlooked when they released their first two albums, but 'third time's the charm', and Toys In The Attic proved to be their breakthrough. Since then, they've hijacked classic rock radio and delivered some of the best songs of all of rock, including 'Dream On', 'Sweet Emotion', and 'Walk This Way'.

2. Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin gave the world 9 great albums, and are considered the greatest classic rock band of all (rivaling the Beatles and Rolling Stones). Their songs have been utterly famous, including 'Black Dog', 'Kashmir', 'Rock and Roll', and 'Stairway to Heaven', and you're probably more likely to here Zep on classic rock radio than anything else. They'd have the top spot on this list, were it not for the fact that not everything they did was 'hard rock'.

1. AC/DC
AC/DC has been around for a long time, and that's amazing when you think about it. After the Aussies pioneered hard rock with Bon Scott, and producing hits like 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap', 'TNT', and 'Highway to Hell', they almost broke up after Scott died. Luckily for them (and us!), they brought in a new frontman named Brian Johnson, and their next album, Back In Black, proved to be their biggest ever, and is one of the most successful albums of all time. They've kept on rocking with songs like 'Back In Black', 'Hells Bells', 'You Shook Me All Night Long', 'For Those About To Rock', and 'Thunderstruck', and with new album released recently, they haven't shone any sign of stopping soon. That's why AC/DC gets the #1 spot on this list.
