Would that mean that Dick James would own half the airport?

So has the city of Liverpool funded any of these statues, or did they just give permission to erect statues of the Beatles after private funds were raised?

I think we were lucky to have the airport named for John Lennon. Back in the Eighties when Hatton and the Militant Tendency were running/ruining the city, the airport could have been named after Lenin rather than Lennon!

The new statue group, at the Pier Head.... I think it's a great statue, in a great location.

They seem like a good likeness too which can't be said for some of the statues and paintings of the Beatles. I did see them in August when they where exhibited at Beatles Convention in the Adelphi. Ringo hadn't been done by then.
Probably the best location for these. Appropriate, relevant and overdue. Brian still needs to be formally recognised by the city though.

There are statues of all the four on the ledge of the Hard Day's Night hotel, on the corner of Mathew Street. I took this pic of Paul...

My main gripe on these statues is they are not great likenesses.

If a city wants to attract more visitors there are a number of options available, mainly around giving discounts and adding value. Well, our city council, already notorious for wrecking the Beatles Festival, have come up with a cunning plan, worthy of Baldrick. They propose a tax on all hotel rooms in the area. The nightime economy is a real draw, with Liverpool capital of the NW drinking industry This attracts parties from Europe and Scandinavia, all spending money on hotels, taxis, food etc. The Hen parties make a beeline for Liverpool One, and shop all afternoon before going out at night. All in all, a massive boost to the local economy. So, the council propose a tax of £4,000 on the bars and clubs. They say we get the politicians we deserve, but nobody deserves these clowns,
