Any thoughts as to the meaning of this countdown video on thebeatles.com beta.thebeatles.com/one/holding_page/index.htmlRumours are rampant as to the meaning of this; Paul and Ringo to tour, Paul and Ringo album, newly unearthed songs, unseen footage etc. Whatever, it appears something is imminently going to be announced. I notice the word 'beta' in the URL link. It could just be the launch of a new website but let's hope it's something a lot more!!

Yeah, I think it's the VERY long-overdue video edition of the "1" album!
Let's hope they also take this opportunity correct their glaring error by reinstating Please Please Me to its rightful place as the Beatles' first number 1!!!

maybe they are going to re-release all of the No.1 singles in a box-set? they've just re-released all of the american albums, and the UK ones got re-done six years ago. when was the last time all the singles got a re-release? -- twenty five years ago. its about time they got around to redoing them again. i reckon that's what it's going to be

The fact that it's a video-style count down and it uses the same grpahics as the "1" album would seem to point to a DVD compilation of their chart-topping promo films.

Here's the latest serious rumour on it....
Thanks to Amazon.com, we have come a bit closer to solve the mystery of the infamous "countdown" video posted by The Beatles on their website and social media channels. On November 6, 2015, a Blu-ray, a DVD and a digipack containing a CD and DVD will be released. Also, there's a Deluxe limited 1CD/2Blu-Ray edition to be made available the same day, optionally as DVD. Timing of the second video disc has not been detailed by Amazon.
The "1" CD will feature a new 2015 remixed and remastered version of the album.
This is very likely a collection of promo videos, as The Beatles are listed as "actors" on the DVD and Blu-ray discs, which contain 110 minutes of footage, in the NTSC video format. Wouldn't it be nice if the second video disc contain the promos for songs that weren't number ones and alternate promos for the ones that were? We expect this blog post to be expanded during the day, as an official press release is likely to be published at 2pm British standard time.

Well it's about time they released any videos on Blu ray, (other than A Hard Days Night & Help!)
"Let It Be" should have been released a decade ago. My Blu Ray copy is better than DVD quality.

Funny how people were all horny over the new Beatles MONO, and now a new re-release in Surround Sound is coming out with Beatles 1.
Next, the whole Beatles catalogue is gonna have to come out in surround sound!!!!!!!!!!!

The more I read this, the more I’m getting dissatisfied with the audio CD. It reads: new stereo and 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS HD surround audio mixes.I was assuming all the songs including Love Me Do & Please Please Me would be 5.1 surround, but now I’m seeing that it’s just another “ new stereo mix”, of some of the songs, and 5.1 on others. I guess it’s a small improvement on the CD, but.....

On a positive note, Beatles 1 is being released on Nov. 06, same day as James Bond new Spectre Movie!

I guess it’s a small improvement on the CD, but..... Along with "PS I Love You", "She Loves You", "I'll Get You" and, to a certain extent, "You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)" (an edited version of this track appeared in stereo on Anthology3), a true stereo version of Love Me Do does not exist - all previous stereo versions just had the bass panned over to one channel and the treble panned to the other, creating so-called "fake stereo" (not the same as "duophonic stereo", which was applied to some mono recordings released in the US). However, with today's technology, where they can isolate and extract certain sound frequencies, I'm sure they would be able to create something a lot better than either of those two processes to come up with something truly stereo-sounding... but still technically fake of course!
