I have 35mm slides of the Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl that were taken by me or my older sister...we can't remember WHO took the photos! My sister went to the Aug 23, 1964 concert and I went in 1965 (but don't remember if it was August 29 or 30). I still have the 1965 program from that concert. My sister no longer has her program, and neither one of us have our ticket stubs. The color slides show the Beatles wearing dark blue or black suits. My on-line research found a portion of the 1964 concert (black and white footage) on YouTube and they are wearing dark suits. I also found concert footage on YouTube labeled 1965 at the Hollywood Bowl, but it doesn't say if it was August 29 or 30. In this footage they are wearing tan suits. My question is did they wear the tan suits BOTH nights in 1965? If so, then the slides must have been taken by my sister in 1964. But, if they wore dark suits on either August 29 or 30, 1965, then our dilemma continues as to WHO took the photos. Can someone help...I can't find any written material that discusses what they wore for their concerts...and the limited footage posted on-line doesn't specify concert dates (or is a compilation of many concerts). Thank you.

Blimey you must be getting on a bit . Wow ! You`ve seen The Beatles ! at The Hollywood bowl ! blimey .
So I have tried my very best to sort out your problem Right . The Beatles were filmed on that date 23/8/64 . So we have this night solved This footage is in fact 23rd as it was in fact filmed that night . And it even says on the Film it is the 23rd .
Now the 29th and 30th shows in 65 were not filmed , so what is on Youtube are not from those nights . Which is not much help . Now, I`m not a Beatle genius but I would say that they had the same suits as it`s not as though they would be wearing different suits every show Imagine the Dry cleaning bills !
I hope I`ve helped a little bit .

Hi Ibb53, welcome to the forum... I wouldn't have thought it would be so difficult to find out whether the Beatles wore the same Nehru style suits on both nights at the Hollywood Bowl in 65...but it is, however, comments posted on Youtube regarding the attached video allude to the fact that they wore the same beige coloured jackets for both performances, so with that in mind I guess your sister took the photos in 64.

"Blimey you must be getting on a bit . Wow !"
Hey now!
I saw them live in 1966, as posted a few weeks ago in another thread. And I am getting on. My vision is dimming. In the first frame of that video, at first glance, it looks like George is holding a tenor sax. It's the Gretsch neck ending at the mike stand.

Thanks for the replies to my question. BluemeaniePaul74...I saw the video you attached on YouTube, but it is mislabeled as "1965", so that added to my confusion about what they wore in 1965. If the commenter is correct about them wearing "camel-colored" suits for their 1965 concerts, then my slides WERE taken by my sister in 1964. MrKite...there ARE advantages to "getting on a bit"...senior discounts and seeing the Beatles live at the Hollywood Bowl in 1965! Wow! Thanks to all for helping me solve this family argument.

I hope I did`nt sound rude when I put "getting on a bit " Guess compared to Ringo and Macca your spring chickens . I dug out a few Beatle books last night and I still could`nt come up with any proper detail on the Gigs . Hope you stick around and enjoy the Forum and it would be fantastic if you could post the Photo`s

Now, I`m not a Beatle genius but I would say that they had the same suits as it`s not as though they would be wearing different suits every show Imagine the Dry cleaning bills ! In Japan, they were light suits 1 night and dark suits the next. I would think they would have them dry cleaned between shows.

I was being rhetorical Bongo . I wonder if there are any Beatle fans out there that have gone to an extreme to know what suits they wore in concerts ? Got to say when I was at my peek in Beatle obsessiveness that is one thing I never has any interest what so ever . I think one off suits are more of a talking point I guess Example Macca`s Bands suits for the 1990 Liverpool docks concert with the Liverbird crest. Anyone ever spotted that ?

I'd be less interested in what suits they wore and more interested in what guitars John and George played, what bass Paul played, and the color of Ringo's drums. In what concert did George first play his Tennessean? Shea Stadium? Did they ever gig with their blue Strats? And George his SG? When did Paul last gig with his Cavern Bass?
That's what I'd be more interested in. I'm a gearhead!

Talking of Beatle stage outfits, I saw this picture of John and Paul in concert and was struck by their unusual Jackets, I don't think I've seen another picture of them wearing these before, anybody know anything about them? NO!!!
