The End, do you remember Djinn from DM's? He was convinced he was with The Beatles all the way and even had recordings of The Beatles at the Indra Club in Hamburg. I remember him very well . One of the highlights in the history of DM's.

Am I still the top poster on DM's? LOL! Sorry. Firmly in my hands since raxo almost stopped posting and pc31 fell in love with a lady from South Africa if I'm correct. It was pretty easy to get the top position after that. Plus that I have access to everybody's profile and can alter the number of posts. Moohahahaha. But, should you add your posts in here to that of DM's, you would come pretty close.

Okay, Henry. You got me. Who is Jimmie Rodgers? Maybe if you give me some song titles, I'll go, "Oh yeah, now I know who you mean!" ;-D
That really is so cool about your dad, and so good for you! Does he still play guitar? Having been in a band himself, I agree that he probably got how music affects kids, hopefully in a good way, of course. ;-)

Um, hi there, administrators - what's happened to my thread? I don't have a clue what you all are talking about here. May I gently suggest moving your posts to a new thread for your topic without riling anyone up? If I'm out of line here, let me know, but it doesn't seem to make sense to have two conversations going on that have nothing much, if anything, to do with each other. Thanks for your consideration, folks.

A hijacked thread is unforgivable!! It really is the lowest of the low. May be we should start imposing fines or suspensions perhaps. No....public execution is the way forward for these thoughtless members!!

I agree with Phyllis and Mrmustard, this is all very bizarre and could confuse a stupid person!!!

Just pull it back on topic and carry on.

It's because of that old member Djinn who claimed to have visited almost every Beatles live performance since 1960. He would have been a great source for pjwstory1002. Otherwise I am guilty of getting off topic. I'll buy everyone from the forum a drink when we're in Liverpool in March to make up with you. :-)

pjwstory, my dad passed away in the '80s. He would be over 100 years old if he were still alive.
Jimmie Rodgers was a legendary country singer from the late '20s and early '30s. He was a pioneer in country, and I suspect it was Rodgers who put "Country" in "Country and Western." His first hit was "Blue Yodel," aka "T for Texas." Must have been one of the first popular songs with the title not in the lyrics. He died of tuberculosis in the mid'-30s.
There was also a Jimmie Rodgers who had hits in the '50s and '60s, such as "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine." Two different guys.

MrMustard "A hijacked thread is unforgivable!! It really is the lowest of the low. May be we should start imposing fines or suspensions perhaps. No....public execution is the way forward for these thoughtless members!!" Um, I know Mr. Mustard is mean, but public executions for hijacking a forum thread is bit extreme don't you think? ;-D Thanks for your support, though, Mr. Mustard! bluemeaniepaul74 "I agree with Phyllis and Mrmustard, this is all very bizarre and could confuse a stupid person!!!" Thanks, bluemeaniepaul. I think it can be confusing to anyone who is expecting one thing and finding another, not just stupids. But I get what you mean.:-D Amadeus "Hey. Don't listen to any of them. They're British! It happens rather a lot around here. You have to keep a stiff upper head. Just pull it back on topic and carry on." So this is a Brit thing, then? ;-D As I've seen it happen elsewhere, it's not just the Brits who do this. I was trying to pull it back on topic by sort of ignoring it and just respond to Henry, but when Rocky said he didn't want to hijack the thread, and then Bobber went off about being a high poster in a later post, I felt I had to say something. In the grand scheme of things, this certainly isn't a big deal, just a little annoying and easily fixed, and forgiven. :-D Bobber "It's because of that old member Djinn who claimed to have visited almost every Beatles live performance since 1960. He would have been a great source for pjwstory1002. Otherwise I am guilty of getting off topic. I'll buy everyone from the forum a drink when we're in Liverpool in March to make up with you. :-)" Ah, okay, now I get where you were coming from, Bobber. So did this Djinn guy come to the US as well and attend all the shows here? If so, then certainly I would be very happy to know those stories! Wow, that really would be something. As wonderful and thrilling as the stories of those who got to go to shows in England and/or Europe are, I'm really after US stories for now since my story takes place here at that period in time. Still, just the emotional experience of these fine folks would be a great resource as well. Oh, if only I could go to Liverpool in March - sadly, just in my dreams. (sigh) I appreciate your comments, guys, and am relieved and pleased that I didn't piss anyone off. I'd hate to start my membership here with difficulties with any of you. I really do try to play nice with others. :-D Thank you!

My husband's mom is going to be 94 in April, and my dad just turned 95 last month! Neither are doing that great, mom-in-law has severe dementia and my dad's got mobility issues as well as dementia. We're expecting the Reaper anytime now. Okay well, there's no way I would know the country singer Jimmie Rodgers from the 20s and 30s. I'm not a big country music fan and he was way before my time. The other Jimmie Rodgers, or his song anyway "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine" I know. I like that song, I think my sister used to sing that to me before we fell asleep. Been a long time since I've heard it. Can it be found anywhere on line, do you think? I'd like to hear it again. So, getting back to my thread , I think I found a good source for one or two shows in San Francisco. However, I'm still looking for folks who went to the Boston show in 64, as well as Shea Stadium and/or other Northeast shows. Please, everyone, if you were there or you know someone who attended any of these shows, I hope you'll respond with your stories or contact info, and/or maybe suggestions of other good places I could post my request. Of all the thousands of people who went to those shows, most of them must still be alive to tell the tale! Wouldn't you think? Thanks so much!

(sigh) If you want to read about djinn, visit dmbeatles.com/forums and do a search for him. The thing, he SAID he was with the Beatles all the way since they were in Hamburg in 1960, having filmed The Beatles in the Indra Club. Now that would be a major find. And yes, he claims he was with The Beatles in the USA as well of course. And with George on his tour in 1974. However, when asked for some proof in any kind. A snippet of something, he failed to produce any of it, telling us we didn't believe him. It became a joke to be honest.

Hijacking happens a little bit on the Rory Storm thread, but after 80 pages of talking about Rory and the gang we do stray off a little bit on different tangents, but since there's only about four or five of us talking it ain't a big deal. I'll start an Indra Club thread down below because I do find this interesting.

Thanks for the info, Bobber and Rocky! If djinn couldn't produce any evidence of his association with the Beatles, then I tend to be suspicious and he loses credibility with me. Too bad. When I was a kid and the Beatles were here touring, I made up a story about my dad getting on the same plane with the band by accident in Chicago (my dad was there on business). Of course, no one believed me. ;-) It could have happened, though, at least in a 9-year old's mind. I think the thing about these silly stories is that we crave that connection with those who move us so deeply. Also, to impress others, I suppose.
Cool video, Rocky! The guy who brought the tix and poster was pretty funny. Good story, though. Thanks!

Getting back to Jimmie Rodgers...
Any American old enough to have seen the Beatles live probably gets the AARP magazine.
The AARP Magazine we got yesterday or day before had an interview with Bob Dylan. He mentions other singer he admires, including Jimmie Rodgers.
Except they put a picture of the wrong Jimmie Rodgers.
I think I'll write a letter to the editor of AARP Magazine.

I hope I didn't hijack the thread talking about Dylan and Jimmie Rodgers. But "It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry" sounds a lot more like one of the Blue Yodels than it does "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine."
Now, back to your regularly-scheduled thread.

I think I'll write a letter to the editor of AARP Magazine. Hi Henry, Well, at this point, I've been getting AARP overtures, but I'm resisting. Just don't want to admit I'm at that point already. I still feel way too young for that sort of thing! ;-) Plus, it just seems too establishment to me - the very sort of thing we former "hippies" were so against back in the day. Don't want to succumb to that place just yet, if ever. Dylan did an interview for the mag??? Yikes! And how sad, I think. I guess that's where his audience is these days, though. (sigh) You'd think they'd get the pics of Jimmie Rodgers right, but maybe they had a senior moment!? lol! ;-) Oops, sorry about the formatting.
