Yeah the Rutles are great, 'I must be in Love' 'With a Girl like you' 'Let's be natural' 'Joe Public' are all among my favourites but I reserve a special mention for 'I Love You', what a beautiful song!!!

I have always thought in the back of my mind: cheese and onions. I have Archeology but I think I've only played it once. But the original is a classic.

I have to admit, I loved it the first time I watched the Movie and especially the songs, but watching it again recently, it just wasn't as funny. And the 2nd Movie is just a total waste of time.

Well, he told me that he'd been to see these young men in a dark cellar.
Classic film!

I heard a rumour that Innes was sued over the Rutles compositions and their similarities to certain Beatle songs, So I googled it and wikipedia seems to confirm this, does anybody know any more???

I believe they are all credited to Lennon McCartney and Innes as it was deemed his songs where too close to The Lennon and McCartney songs.

In an interview, Innes said didn't want to listen to any Beatles songs so he wouldn't write in their style. But a few Rutles songs are Beatle quality especially Get up and go, Double back alley, I must be in love, Joe public.

I read that on Wikipedia yesterday and also the bit about the 'Rhino' label releases attributing all songs to Innes. With that in mind I decided to have a look in the 'composers' section on my ipod to see whether the Rutles songs I have on there are indeed credited to Lennon/McCartney/Innes, but unfortunately they weren't. Curiously enough though I did find another track that credits Lennon and McCartney as co-composers, it's by the Beastie Boys and it's called "She's On It", attributed to Lennon/McCartney/Rubin.... I've had a couple of listens but can't detect any discernible sample from the Beatles catalogue, anyone else hear it?

I love the irony that Oasis had to pay Neil Innes royalties because of the similarity between 'Whatever' and 'How sweet to be an idiot' !

Lennon apparently loved the film so much that he kept the video that Innes had loaned to him. The only criticism he had was that ' Get up and go' was too similar to 'Get Back'.
