I walk down Mathew Street at least once a week, and it always gives me a kick to see the tourists posing with the John Lennon statue, and reading the names on the Cavern Wall. Here is the crowd of tourists yesterday.... [Looking down Mathew Street from North John Street]

A great quote from Alan Price, of "The Animals" “We came down from Newcastle to Liverpool in a little van in 1963 and we carried our own gear into the Cavern for a lunchtime session. We were very nervous about playing there and I said to a girl in a duffle coat who was watching us, ‘Do you think they’ll like rhythm and blues here?’ ‘Like it?’ she said, ‘We invented it.’”

I walked down Slater Street today, and the Jac is far from ready to open. Builders are still working on it.

I would imagine that many of you are familiar with this song, however for those who may have missed it, a nice medley....

Sad news indeed. Do any photos of Ray exist at all?

I didn't know the last act to appear there when he closed The Cavern on Feb. 27,1966, was Rory Storm and The Hurricanes.

There are some pictures of Ray in Spencer Leigh's various books. I often saw Ray when I went to the Cavern, and he was on the Cavern visit to Hamburg in November 1963, however I never spoke to him. I think that Ray McFall played an important part in the Beatles story, in that he was able to set aside his own tastes, and understand what the kids, his customers, wanted. The Cavern had a dress code that excluded wearing jeans, so when the Beatles turned up in jeans, and even worse, leathers, Ray wanted Bob Wooler to tell them to dress more consertively. However, Bob persueded him that the Beatles had their own way, and to allow them to perform as they liked.

Found this old pic of Ray outside the Cavern Club. I just noticed that sign The Beatles played here 282 times. They actually played 292 times. I wonder if the pic was taken before the Beatles quit playing there in Aug. '63.

Just when you think you seen everything, something pops up! lol Thanks brew for sharing this one! I really enjoyed it, you don't see many, in fact this is the only one I recall, with Paul's DaD in it, if only for a few seconds.

Is that Pub on the Wirral? I believe it was the 'Chelsea Nightclub' on Marine promenade at New Brighton, where Paul was filmed with family and friends for part of an American documentary. The building has since been converted into a luxury apartment complex. Did anyone spot Gerry Marsden enjoying a tipple during the video?

Denny Seweil was there too. I assume Henry McCullough was there but didn't see him. He was probably propping the bar up as the rest of Wings where all namby pamby drinkers compared to him!

Glad you liked it guys. While I'm no expert on pubs, that wasn't the Chelsea [which was later owned by Roy Adams, who also owned the Cavern] I believe it's this one near Seacombe Ferry....
