Hi, I am trying to find any info regarding attached Beatles sheet music item. Is this rare Yellow Submarine sheet music? It has orange colored cover and different art work (not the usual Klaus Voormann art work on cover) and is marked Music Sales Australia & Northern Songs UK. The sheet music was printed in UK and has serial number NO 1042 B. Thanks, J

Thanks. I found a current publishing office by the same name as seen on the bottom of the back. I'm just going to bed now (cough, cough) but it might be the same company? I'll look more into it tomorrow but for now, here's the link. www.musicsales.com/Companies/Australia.aspx

Thanks Amadeus, But I already knew that as Music Sales is an Australian company. But all Music Sales sheet music that is printed in Australia actually states it is printed in Australia. What this one says though, I am sure you noticed is that it is printed in UK and by a company called West Central Printing which is no longer in existent, having gone out of business in the 1970s according to my research. Also if it was a Music Sales 70s printing, it would have stated the year along with the year the song was released ie: in this case 1966. I have come across 1970s issue of the same song and they have a totally different cover and the Australian 70s issue is totally different too. The strange thing about this sheet music is that instead of one company Music Sales, it also has two though Northern Songs is the publishing arm of McCartney/Lennon music...if you look carefully you'll also see the two prices, one says 25p (for UK) and the other 60c (for Australia), so weird that it seems to be a sheet music available for two countries England and Australia. The search continues...

I just wondered if the mother company was based in England (the second link) and that it was printed in England specifically for export to Australia? Hmm.... Must be missing something or there just isn't enough info available or we just don't know where to look for it. If it was the same company, it could've been a brief run for a bunch of songs and artists with that cover design that didn't last long. A quickie budget version with a generic design for all artists included.? in between 'proper' editions??? I'll casually keep browsing around but it looks pretty obscure. The sort of thing that even the 'company' guys wouldn't remember. Anyhow, welcome to the site. Feel free to join in the discussions. Lot of fun. Cheers
