Hey! I did that too. Except that I went for order of recording in that I put Yellow Submarine before the White Album and Let It Be before Abbey Road.

Nice work! I notice that to keep the integrity of the albums you kept them intact even if a single from an album was released earlier, as was the case with the Help single and LP - I did a similar playlist and went purely chronological but it meant the albums didn't flow properly!

Hey! I did that too. Except that I went for order of recording in that I put Yellow Submarine before the White Album and Let It Be before Abbey Road. No... recording dates are insignificant. They're good to know, but they shouldn't determine the order of your playlist! Because you aren't "supposed" to know the recording dates anyway, if you know what I mean. BTW I don't get the fuss on why people think Abbey Road should be the last album instead of Let It Be. Something about how it's a better ending. Is it because of "The End"? Well, "The End" not the end! The end is "Her Majesty", which ends abruptly thanks to John Lennon's input. That's not a good end to me. You know what's a good end? The "I hope we pass the audition joke" at the end of "Get Back" on Let It Be. There's just something about it. So, follow the proper chronological sequence (my list up there ), and you'll get a good end. Nice work! I notice that to keep the integrity of the albums you kept them intact even if a single from an album was released earlier, as was the case with the Help single and LP - I did a similar playlist and went purely chronological but it meant the albums didn't flow properly! Core LP's are given priority. You're meant to listen to LP's as a whole, not song by song. Hence "Long Play". Whereas it's OK to listen to a single song by song. Hence why I removed duplicates from the singles. Which is why it's important to keep the 'integrity of the albums'. I'm sorry, but you can't do it any other way.

*****Ignore this rant if I've already said it somewhere!*****When The Beatles released the 2009 Apple USB, they had a chance to actually put all the songs in chronicle (canon) order which could have included the singles that weren't on the albums, but instead just threw them all on the Past Masters at the end, like they did with the LP reissues!!!!!! Now I get why they had to put Past Masters with the LPs, but on a USB??? And furthermore only in Stereo, no Mono option! > Imagine actually seeing the original Parlophone Magical Mystery Tour EP, instead of the Capitol LP? ? Lazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really don't see anything wrong with starting with the Dexterized Meet the Beatles. All that energy! Even the 12/8 ballad "This Boy" was the most manically played slow song I ever heard.
Worked for us Americans. Or perhaps I should say worked on us Americans.
Yeah, I know, the best way would be sequentially, starting with Pleas Please Me, but others might say start with the stuff recorded in Germany, such as the ones with Tony Sheridan.
But for us Americans, Meet the Beatles WAS the first and the beginning.

For the Beatles to come out with a U.S. CD set in 2014, that tells you something! Unfortunately, it's not the Dexterized set for some reason! You'd have to get the 2004-2006 Capitol CD box sets for that. WTF!!!

I actually decided to play a Beatles "record" last night and had to laugh at the ticks, scratches & pops, but it definitely had a fun feeling of nostalgia. I much prefer my CD/iTunes quality sound but wonder if there is a software program that would add fake ticks & pops at the beginning/end of a song. ***Not saying that's the best way to listen to The Beatles!

lovinsbrown, I'm always skeptical when you have to download stuff to get music from YouTube, especially since you can do it for free without having to download anything. Just google "YouTube to MP3" and on their site you also just copy/paste. www.youtube-mp3.org

Also when the above post is blanketed all over dozens of threads, one gets in a state of mind to ignore what the prolific party has to say.
