I help sorting vinyl in a charity shop and have come across an apparent Beatles label error. It is the Beatles Parlophone R5084 early press with 17559/60 matrix numbers. KT tax code embossed etc. The A side label is on both sides. The 45 plays This Boy on side B even if the side A label is present. The B side matrix number is correct. i can't find anything about this on any website so was wondering if you guys could add anything to it. i suppose it came from an early faulty production run but would be interested in knowing more.

Howdy. In most cases, a label sticker error like that isn't worth any more than usual. Basically whatever one is willing to pay for it, but they're not considered a collection field. If it was the same song on both sides, you might have something.
I'm pretty sure that's the case.

Yeah I agree, a couple of years ago I sold a label error copy of 'Get Back' on Ebay for around 12 English pounds. Think that sort of thing only appeals to a small minority of collectors.

Thanks for your help on this. It confirms what I thought.i was sure it would have been documented somewhere if there was a market. Last year we had the Beatles For Sale 'I'm a 'losser' misprint that sold well on eBay but that appeared well documented. Anyone we'll see what eBay brings!

I'm sure everyone's heard of the VJ record 'Please Please Me' with The Beattles (mis-spelled). A friend of mine found one at a flea market for 25 cents! Sold it in Goldmine magazine (way before there was an eBay or computors) for $1000!!!

Why is it that you hear these amazing stories of people striking gold down at the flea market yet whenever I rifle through the vinyl at the car boot sales or charity shops all I find are Jim Reeves and Johnny Mathis records???

Has the label mistake on the MMT vinyl reissue crediting George Harrison as the writer of Baby You're A Rich Man, been corrected?
