Very macabre but its probably saved me a trip as I have been intending to do a journey of Beatles related gravestones around Liverpool for sometime.
I find it really hard to believe there is no gravestone for Mary McCartney. Even if Jim couldn't afford one at the time, Paul could have had one done a few years later. Was this a well known fact that she didn't have a gravestone?

I guess if there was one for Mary McCartney it would turn into a Tourist sight . Not anything anyone would want for their mothers resting place

Mr. Kite posted: "I guess if there was one for Mary McCartney it would turn into a Tourist sight . Not anything anyone would want for their mothers resting place."
That must be why Julia's gravestone simply has "Mummy" at the top and the names of her children below.

But the fame of Paul McCartney was a long way off and also unimaginable when Mary died. Has there been any instances of Beatles-related gravestones becoming a tourist site?

Ah but . Imagine if John or George had Graves ? I think if it was done properly like Jimi's, SRV and Buddy's it wouldn't be a problem, but then you have Morrison's which I think they should do something about. I also remember Errol Flynn never had a gravestone because all his wives hated him and then when his children grew older they got him one. BTW I just happened upon that video looking for something else and thought it was pretty interesting to see. Don't want you guys thinking I'm a ghoul. lol

But all these people where the actual celebrity. Mary McCartney wasn't a Beatle like Julia wasn't a Beatle and her gravestone appears undisturbed.
I have been to Jim Morrisons grave. The cemetary employ a security guard to stand by it.

I agree mm. That's exactly what I thought when I first seen the video about Mary's grave, why no headstone? Sir Paul doesn't have to have a giant marker for her, just something like Julia's. He didn't go to his Dad's funeral, used the excuse I couldn't cancel my show,.... what?! Maybe he just doesn't want to think about that part of life. But then again, I seen there was a report of where he's going to be buried. So I don't know what he thinks or his reasons are. lol

Quoting Mr. Kite once again: "Imagine if John or George had Graves ?"
My understanding is that both were cremated, George's ashes strewn into the Ganges. But if John had some kind of tombstone or monument, the Strawberry Fields part of Central Park in Manhattan would be an appropriate place. I've been there twice; it's beautiful.
Didn't Paul have some sort of falling-out with his dad for marrying a sweet young thing Paul's age, maybe younger?
And Rocky, you're not a ghoul, unless I am too. I check online obits every morning over breakfast.

You know what is funny is if you watch the 'Let It Be' movie the little girl Paul brought to the studio was his step-daughter Heather, age about 7, she was about the same age as Paul's new wife Nancy at the time! lol

Okay, so I stand corrected. Jim's wife was 6 years older than Paul.
Does everybody know the "half-plus-seven" rule? Take half your age, add seven. If the girl is younger than that, she's to young for you.
Maybe I am a ghoul. I've had findagrave.com bookmarked for some time now.
And Paul's present wife and his step-daughter are probably STILL the same age.
