After an absolutely hellish day at work on Friday, it probably wasn’t the best time to go out and have free drinks all night as, looking back now, it was very evident that I was doing my very best to erase the events of the day through the miracle of alcohol!
When I say it was “free” drinks – that’s not strictly true as I had to fork out £60 for the privilege! However, that £60 included a 3 course meal, unlimited wine during the meal, a free bar till midnight and an incredibly cheesy disco!
As a result, I only remember snippets. But I do recall a lot of internal struggles as I argued with myself not to do anything stupid, some of which I lost!
For example, I did accost a group of old ladies having a quiet Christmas night out, by going round their table, noisily encouraging them all to sing along with “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday” using an imaginary microphone – IT’S CHRIIIIIIISTMAAAAAAAASSS! However, I thankfully did NOT get up and sing Shakin’ Stevens’ “Merry Christmas Everyone” despite a tiny annoying voice telling me to grab the DJ’s mic (which may or may not have been a real voice!!)!
And then there was the dancing, which, rather depressingly, seems to be becoming a bit of habit of late! :-( The rest of the evening including the journey home, has, in the fine tradition of the good old BBC, been wiped! Mercifully! But unless someone can advise me to the contrary (and no one has so far!), I think it could’ve been a whole lot worse than it was, however there are a couple of videos on my phone I am still afraid to watch!!
It’ll come as no surprise then that Saturday was a complete write-off - my hangover was so bad that I couldn’t even sleep through it – I woke up at 10am with my brain seemingly trying to kick my eyeballs out of their sockets from the inside! So I got up and sat groaning loudly in front of the TV all day, unable to change channels as the remote was just out of reach of my fingertips – consequently, I ended up watching all of the Back to the Future movies one after the other! Did “Griff” ever act in any other films, I wonder!! Hmmmm....
MARKS OUT OF 10: 7 because the rest of the day was quite beastly!
HANGOVER OUT OF 10: 8 because at least I woke up in my own home this time!
