Another important part for me of becoming drawn into the world of The Beatles was a film that was shown every four years on British television when I was growing up.
Boxing day morning would really be the cherry on top at Christmas when they showed A Hard Day`s Night.
At a young age watching that film you see the personalities of the four members of this band and of course the music. For me this has to be the ultimate Pop album and the quality of the song writing goes on through the whole album. You can Imagine what a response the film had when people when to see it on the Cinema in the sixties.
I want to be in a band.
A Hard Day`s Night for all the trimmings that surrounds the album the film and the Beatles persona it is for me the best of the early albums its 40 minutes of energy great song writing and I think this was the album that kick started the confidence of Lennon and McCartney that they were more than just a boy band and there are no cover songs for the first time . A Hard Day`s Night is indeed the ultimate early Beatle album that for me is the ship in the bottle of what the swinging sixties was all about .

So this one is your childhood 'go-to' album. Like Beatles 65 is mine. Probably out of all the early ones, it is the ultimate crafted pop album. I'm not sure but that's probably why it's not my most favorite. I do prefer With The Beatles more.
I'd love to have seen the film new in the cinema. It was released 10 or so years ago in our theatres at selected spots for a limited time only. Not quite the same but I still wish I had gone to see it, even though I know how it ends.

Nice one - you must have sneaked this review in as I'd not seen it before! Great sentiments though John! I too remember those films being shown on every year on Boxing Day - I wonder years that would have been. There was also a series of Beatle films being shown early evening once a week on BBC2 in the late 70's/early 80's - I remember dashing home from school to watch them! They showed every film including Live at Shea Stadium!
