A quick anecdote about seeing Andy Williams. It was a live televised performance, and he obviously wasn't comfortable with working live. It didn't help that during rehearsals the promoter kept getting his name wrong "where's that Danny Williams"] He couldn't read the autocue, because he was too vain to wear his glasses on stage, and he literally couldn't say "Hello, I'm Andy Williams" without reading it. The crew had to hold up large placards with his script in large magic-marker, and, believe it or not, he actually had to read the words to his greatest hit Moon River!

Nice! Heard Trower is now back with singing bass player. When I saw him he had a lead singer. I think a singing bass player is a much better set up for him. Report back would you!

Steve Wilson The Bridgewater Hall Manchester. 21/3/15. Brilliant show . He did as I recall all his new album Hand Cannot Erase and some other stuff of his solo stuff and a Porcupine Tree song Robin Trower / Joanne Shaw Taylor The Lowry , Salford 29/3/15. I was a bit excited as it would be my first time seeing J.S.T. and not so excited of seeing Robin Trower again J.S.T. just had a bassist and drummer (no keyboard player ?) and came on and did a fantastic 40 minute show Kicking off with Mud Honey from her new album and there was`nt an empty seat in the house which must be a rarity for a support act ? A highlight of all highlight songs was Jealousy She has such a powerful blues soul voice that is so good it`s scary that she is also a great guitarist . I will be seeing her again that`s for sure . Robin Trower . Did lot`s of songs I don`t know and it did`nt really get going for me until he did the brilliant first two songs from Bridge Of Sighs That was it for me as I had to do one as the last Tram home form there was feckin 2210. Only that early on a Sunday . Nice . Got a lovely souvenir Did`nt have a great view . Had better view

The Gentle Storm The Roundhouse . Manchester. 25/4/15. What a Gig ! The lead vocalist Anneke Van Giersenburgen is fantastic ! She can hold a tune to Doom Prog metal , operatic rock, ballards and anything I`ve forgot already Half the show was the bands (?) album The Gentle Storm and then Anneke came back on stage on her own and played Floyd`s Wish You Were Here on an Acoustic with the whole audience singing along . Then played a few of her solo stuff and from her old band The Gathering also a Ayreon song and then finished off with The Gentle Storm album Fantastic Gig and nice to be back to the old small gigs , but as it was my first Gig at The Roundhouse it will be my last as the place is closing down next month . I took a couple of rubbish photo`s and I got a flyer signed of my new fav songtress herself ! Roll on Weds, Smoke Fairies and Public Broadcasting Service . Just In .

Hello . I`ve been too a few Gigs this year and I hav`nt been reviewing them on here as I thought no one is interested Who care`s ? and who want`s to read about someone having a good time and all that stuff and even how they have bought those cheap T. Shirts outside the venue that shrink after the first wash . Well tough I`m going to go ahead as one day I wont be able to go Gigs as I`ll probably sat in an old peoples home waiting for the big call up But I`ll be able to ask the nurse to come on here and I can reminisce about T.Shirts that shrink after the first wash . Who still buys Tour T.Shirts ? Anyway .
E.L.O. Manchester Arena Dec. last year ( I`ve forgot the date ) I have seen E.L.O ( yes, yes I know there were only two of the 70`s E.L.O. ) Did`nt buy a T.Shirt What can I say , but I`ve seen E.L.O. Highlight ? All of it.
Steven Wilson . Manchester Apollo .29th Jan 2016 What can I say about this gig ? Well I did`nt buy a T.Shirt Over the last few years now I`ve been seeing a lot of bands that maybe the youngest member was probably in their 50`s And they have been great Gigs , but after all it`s a young mans game and most of the under 50`s don`t rock my boat But this man Not only are his albums sublime but live he is god damn brilliant ! As I remember it he seem to play the entire Hand Cannot Erase album which has become an all timer for me Also he did a tribute to David Bowie who had just recently left us A brilliant performance and what a fantastic set of musicians he has around him .
To be cont ..

Oh good ! I shall carry on
Wilco Johnson / Joanne Shaw Taylor . The Ritz . Manchester .
The Ritz . I bloody love Gigs at The Ritz Its cheap, nice and spacey and always a great atmosphere First up was Joanne And for a support . The place was full to the brim and she did a brilliant set In fact the best I`ve seen her live Wilco Johnson . Now I must admit I was really only at the Gig for Joanne so I was`nt that bothered about Wilco Which was a good thing really as he was`nt at the Ritz ( get it ?) I love his old band song Roxette by Dr Feelgood and he messed that up by forgetting the words Bit of a downer after Joanne`s blazing set , so next time Wilco ladies last
Joe Bonamassa / Joanne Shaw Taylor . Preston Guild Hall . Preston Should have been an outdoor event but was changed at the last minute due to Rain ..Lots of it
Joanne did the same set as she did when I last saw her Did`nt really get the crowd`s attention , I`m guessing to a lot of the crowd they seemed to have never heard of her Stood next to these dickheads who insisted on talking all the through her set . Pissed me off no end
Joe Bonamassa What can you say about this man live . The night was a tribute to British Blues Artists Just a brilliant set with songs from Page, Beck and Clapton An absolutely version of Becks Bolero and odd version of Zepp`s Boogie With Stu

I stopped going to shows in the early 90's due to tinnitus symptoms. My doc told me if I stopped attending loud shows it would reverse in a few years and not come back and he was right That's ok, by then I'd already seen a ton of amazing performances...these were all back when I was living in the SF bay area... '70's 1976: The Tubes 1976: Yes/Gentle Giant 1976: Jethro Tull/ELO/Rory Gallagher 1977: Genesis 1977: Jethro Tull 1977: Led Zep (final US appearance)/Rick Derringer/Judas Priest 1977: ELP/Journey 1977: Yes/Donovan (both nights) 1977: Queen 1978: David Bowie 1978: Genesis 1978: Kansas/Thin Lizzy/The Cars 1978: Ted Nugent/Blue Oyster Cult/Journey/AC-DC/Cheap Trick 1978: Yes (both nights) 1978: Jethro Tull/Uriah Heep 1979: The Who 1979: Jethro Tull/UK '80's 1980: Peter Gabriel/Random Hold 1984: The Dead Kennedy's/The Dicks/Crucifux/Whipping Boy/Tower of Swine 1984: Husker Du/The Minutemen/Meat Puppets/Saccharin Trust/SWA 1986: The Dead Kennedy's/Whipping Boy/7 Seconds 1986: The Minutemen/7 Seconds/Slovenly 1987: Rain (great Beatles tribute band!) 1987: Jethro Tull/Fairport Convention 1988: Jethro Tull/Fairport Convention 1988: Rain 1989: Neil Young/Tom Petty '90's: 1990: Peter Hammill 1991: Yes 1992: Marillion 1993: Steve Hackett I was also lucky enough to bring a nice camera to a small number of shows and these are my fave shots... Ya, I'm lucky to have a pretty sweet 70's concert history that began when I was 15 Just a little late to see Genesis "The Lamb", Yes "Topographic Oceans", and Tull "Thick as a Brick" & "Passion Play" tours along with King Crimson in '74, but still early enough to see Yes with the huge theatrical stage show, Gentle Giant at their best, ELP on the Works tour, Genesis with Steve Hackett, Queen before Freddy grew the mustachio & Tull before Ian blew out his voice The Zep show was the last time they played in the US. Not sure how well known the story is but the short version is Zep were playing a Saturday and Sunday show. Saturday after the show a Bill Graham employee was beaten up by Bonham, Peter Grant and a couple Zep roadies. Graham agreed not to press charges to prevent a possible riot the next day by 60,000 Zep maniacs. Saturday night Graham changed his mind and the police arrested Bonham, Grant, and the roadies. They all bailed out that night but all was not well. After the sets by Derringer & Judas Priest, we were all ready for Zep. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. There was a Zep roadie sitting on a chair onstage holding Pagey's red doubleneck and about every 20 minutes, a Graham employee would come up to the mic and try to keep everyone calm by saying, "we're having a little trouble with Jimmy's doubleneck, the show will start soon". This went on for 2 hours! Apparently Peter Grant demanded an additional $50,000 cash for his boys to perform and there was a nasty standoff between Grant & Graham that took a couple hours to resolve...though none of us knew the drama that was playing out backstage. Finally they came out and were absolutely awful! Zero energy and completely going through the motions. I recall No Quarter just dragging on and on and on and going nowhere. To be fair, it was a typical late July windy day at the Oakland Coliseum (normal for that time of year) and the sound swirled round and round which I'm sure made them sound even worse. The day after the show Plants' son Karac died, the tour was cancelled, Plant made some comments in the press that he blamed Page for dabbling in black magic, and they never returned to the US. Definitely cool to have been there though, kinda like saying you saw the Beatles at Candlestick in '66

First of all Stuart Mconnie a DJ on BBC 6 Music is a massive Gentle Giant fan and if you listen to his solo shows 00:00 Saturday going into Sunday (GMT) and Sunday 20:00 (8pm GMT ) 6 Music he plays loads of prog. I have heard versions of the Oakland show debarkle (LZ) So you were there.

I have heard versions of the Oakland show debarkle (LZ) So you were there. Wasn't into Judas Priest at all, Rick Derringer was pretty much a one trick pony (Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo) and Zep's poor performance and song list that day skipped most of my fave songs (In My Time of Dying, Dazed & Confused, Immigrant Song, Black Dog, Dancing Days)...so...in many ways it was one of the worst shows I ever saw, but at the same time the historical significance makes it one of the most memorable I'd have to say the whole day is summed up best by this photo from the Jimmy Page by Jimmy Page book...

Hello reader ! I have a few Gigs to catch up on . Last year ! Jean Michel Jarre Blue Dot Festival . Jodrell Bank July 2016 Also on that day was Lonelady which I was intended to see , for which I did In a very packed Tent and I was a bit disappointed in the Vocals way to low ! Apart from that a great set and went down very well with the crowd ! As for Jean just the 5 or 6 minutes of Oxygene was my highlight and the rest was just lots of his newer stuff which ok I guess The light show for as we all know is the bees knees was a bit ants knees very "sparse " Joanne Shaw taylor Bury .Lancs This was the first time I`d seen her not supporting and also her new album was out So I was a bit apprehensive about a full set from the guitar godess No reason to have worried , she was fantastic Her strongest album to date may have put Joanne on another level when it comes to touring for she should be getting bigger audiences in the not to distant future Joanne Shaw Taylor Manchester Academy Jan. 2017 I know ! Again ! It was the same set , more or less as Bury last year But it was so flawless , to be hold, and as said in the last bit , now playing to a bigger audience ( what do you mean that`s hindsight !) Best I`ve seen her yet ! No , skip that she`s fantastic every time ! Black Star Riders The Ritz . March . 2017 I saw these fellas 2 years ago and with only 2 of their own albums out at the time , this was a half n half show of Thin Lizzy and B.S.T. stuff This time around they are touring with a new third album and this time only one Lizzy song all night But they have really come into their own and I have to say that this band are a great band live and no longer need to sell tickets with Thin Lizzy hanging over their heads . Anderson Wakeman Rabin Man. Apollo March 2017 See Prog Thread . Jesca Hoop . Brudenell Club . Leeds . March 2017 Just have to mention what a fantastic venue this place is ! And I`m going back in May ! As for the Hoop Brilliant ! With a 3 piece band behind her this was her new album Tour and what an album it is BTW From the opening Songs Of Old to the encore City Bird it was a shear joy to hear her songs from her new and old stuff that I admit I did`nt really like so much , but the Kite has been turned Roll on Thursday where I`ll see her in her home town , Manchester

10CC The Bridgewater Hall . Manchester What a brilliant show ! Who was in the line up? Is it just Graham Gouldman now? Yes it is ! But the drummer has been touring with 10cc since 1973 ! They had a "screen" Video of Kevin Godley singing Somewhere In Hollywood ( I think that`s what is was called) Which was superb In fact it was a great show all round and I even felt a bit of a youngster in the audience ! A fantastic Barbers quartet of Donna which a highlight for me Well worth going seeing for sure
