Amadeus: "Well, I've really enjoyed reading all the Rubber Soul reviews. Let's get on with Revolver now."
My review of Revolver is about ready for posting.
The End: "I'm still struggling with Rubber Soul!! LOL!"
Well, here's the deal. Other than movie sound tracks, Rubber Soul was the first album released in American that had the same title as the British release, albeit with different songs. We Americans got a somewhat different albums from the British.
My review of Revolver is of the original, 14-cut British release. The American 11-cut album was missing 3 good songs. Before I heard the British Revolver, I had 3 favorite Beatle albums tied for first, Rubber Soul, Sgt. Pepper, and Abbey Road. The 14-track Revolver makes a 4th.

Our singles generally lined up with the US singles and we got that tune on Get Back - B side like everybody else. Funny how we Canadians were way ahead of the US when it came to The Beatles in 1963, since they didn't catch on until 1964.... Our 3 Canadian Albums 1) Beatlemania! With the Beatles, 2) Long Tall Sally & 3) Twist and Shout, are a nice collectible because of it! Guessing it had something to do with our ties with the Queen of England!

Mr. Mustard: "I was listening to Beatles VI earlier. Man, that was weird!!!"
"Weird" is a charitable way to put it. When Beatles VI was current, it was my least favorite Beatle album.
The critics had said that Beatles for Sale was a step back for the group, after A Hard Day's Night. I was puzzled by that, because I knew that the American version was Beatles '65, which I thought was a pretty good album. But as it turns out, Beatles '65 had 8 songs from Beatles for Sale, the single sides "I Feel Fine" and "She's a Woman," and a track left over from AHDN, "I'll Be Back."
The rest of the Beatles for Sale album were left for Beatles VI, and I suspect these were the duller (by Beatles standards) cuts from Beatles for Sale. IMHO Beatles VI is one of the weaker Capitol American Beatle releases.

Weeellll, I thought I'd bring to everyone's attention that we've gone from 8 reviewers (for Please Please Me) down to 3 reviewers (for Revolver). and as most folks wait to write their own reviews before reading the others the commenting and discourse is pretty slow, SO; let's face it: You're NOT gonna catch up so just read the bloody 3 reviews and start commenting on them and start stroking our egos. No?

Oh, I like the fact the Mr. Mustard reviewed Rubber Soul, even though we're up to Revolver. I might start reviewing the earlier stuff myself.
Or not. I have started a review of Sgt. Pepper.

Amadeus, do you suppose that once we get to Sgt. Pepper, there will be more reviewers, since the American releases were the same as the British versions (for the most part)?

Hmm... I don't know. I think the early albums were just as fascinating BECAUSE of the differences. I figure that whoever are prolific posters will also review the albums. I feel that there are not enough arguments. Is that because we all tend to agree?

Here's what I think happened: At first, people would give a general, overall critique of an album. Then, people began to write substantial paragraphs about each individual cut, and that raised the bar pretty high.

All comments or observations, no matter how big or small, would be more than welcome for any of the albums :-)

Great! So when will Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band be ready for review? I had started one in a Word document, but gave up on it when the reviews sort of lost interest.

Although technically not an album in 1967, in somehow seems wrong to go from Sgt Pepper straight to The White Album. My vote is Magical Mystery Tour.

I understand that the American LP sold pretty well in the UK as an import in'67.

It is supposed to be official UK releases but that's enough to get around the red tape!
