The rather ambitious idea is that as a new Beatles album is added to this board, hopefully every two weeks, members will be invited to submit a complete review of that album with the aim of building a complete and individualistic overview of The Beatles entire recorded output! So, if you are contributing a review, please start a brand new thread in the appropriate album section, that way forum members can post their comments on your review and discussions may then ensue. Once complete, the album boards will remain open so that new members may still contribute reviews or add comments if they so wish. If you have any questions, comments or ideas about this project, please post them here! AL

I'd just also like to encourage ANYONE who wants to write ANYTHING about any of the albums posted so far to please feel free to do so - even if it's just a few lines, any and all contributions are always welcomed here (that includes you, sheepdog! lol )

OMG! I just listened to She's A Woman from the 1964 US Beatles '65. Wow, what a difference from the UK version.
You gotta give them a listen. I can't believe how tinny the US version is!!!!

That is what I grew up on. I thought the Beatles' records were so cool with that deep reverb sound. It's still odd for me to listen to the UK mixes of 'I Feel Fine' and She's A Woman'.
If one can't find the Capitol mixes, take a portable music player with the 'accepted' mixes of, say, She's A Woman and I Feel Fine, go to a large underground car park, (it has to be empty), run to the other end, maybe even on the next level, and get a friend to press play on the music player and Voila! The U.S. mix!

And 'Bad Boy' was a well known song over here for a long time before I realised that nobody in Britain ever heard it until 'rarities' came out. Was it on Rarities? Was it on the 'best of' in '66?
Forget everything I said. It's not like I'm an expert.

We didn't get that one. In fact, we never got a compilation until the RED and BLUE albums. Although I guess 'Hey Jude' qualifies as a comp. A bunch of singles that weren't on any Capitol album.
Oh yeah, was that in their contract or something? No comps? After 1976 we were inundated with them. It just makes the music seem cheap. Like The Rolling Stones and their 25 or 6 compilation albums.

Didn't Hey Jude have songs on that were unreleased in Canada at the time? Thus making it not really a compilation in the true sense??

I think we had them all issued before then.... We got Lady Madonna and Inner Light too in early '68.

Was it Don't Let Me Down that hadn't been released in Canada at the time?

Our singles generally lined up with the US singles and we got that tune on Get Back - B side like everybody else.

I don't recall anything like that off the top of my head. I know we got stuff the US didn't get. We got Love Me Do in 1962! Our Let It Be came in a box set too rather than the US gatefold.
