I'm sure this has been mentioned before but this is an absolute killer track by McCartney. His vocals are awesome

Absolutely!!! Awesome for a 65 year old. I've always maintained that Macca is the greatest most versatile rock vocalist. From syrupy smooth to absolute raucous. Who else could record "I'm Down" in the morning and "Yesterday" in the afternoon. Or put "Another Day" on the same single as "Oh Woman Oh Why".

I couldn't agree more. I can never understand why McCartney and Lennon are automatically excluded from the 'best lead singer' type poll. Not that these polls mean diddly squat but for my money Lennon and McCartney are every inch the singer as the likes of Plant, Daltrey, Mercury, (fill in blanks) etc etc.

Listen to the venom in Lennon's voice in "Money". And his seductive (whatever) in "All I Gotta Do". Both of them are NOT one trick ponies.
Walls And Bridges contains nice examples of 'good' later Lennon sounds. Think "Down And Out" and "You Don't Know What You've Got".
And you're right. They are never mentioned in great singer discussions. Chris Cornell can rock like anyone, but he certainly can't croon. You know it's the same voice. When he sings quiet, you know your pleasure centres in the brain are waitning to light up when he lets loose.
With Macca, a newbie could be confused and not realise that the same guy is singing Helter Skelter, I Will, Lady Madonna and Call Me Back Again. Four completely different voices.
There are lots of great singers but I can't think of many that can legitimately pull off so many styles. He sounds right also for those "Kisses On The Bottom" album.

The vocal in All I Gotta Do and Long Tall Sally, for example, is beyond just about any other lead vocalist you care to mention. Lennons vocal in All I Gotta do is sublime. The dynamic and the pick up in the vocal is truly exceptional. Then the whole thing about The Beatles was that every member contributed a part that was perfect for the song in hand whether that be guitar, bass, drums or vocal. That's what really made them that good along with the songwriting.
I will take you up on one thing you said and that's about Chris Cornell. I urge you to listen to the song Down from his first solo album Euphoria Morning. The vocal in this track is truly awe inspiring. It starts off as the complete crooner and ends in Cornell literally shredding his vocal cords not unlike Lennon as it happens. You really hear Cornell screaming for his life on this track like he meant it, like Lennon always did.

All I've Gotta To Do: I've been singing the praises of this VASTLY underrated track for years - I could not agree with you both more, Lennon's vocal, from that spine-tingling "Whenever" is nothing short of incredible. The refrain is brilliant too, particularly the high-register " oh-oh-oh, you just gotta call on me" part. Another jaw-dropping Lennon vocal for me is in I Should've Know Better (I'm sure I've mentioned this to you before, Si) and in particular the second "And when I tell you that I love you" section of the track - listen to what he does with the note at the end of "you're gonna say you love me to-oo-oo-oo... oh-oh". Goosebumps every time I hear it! Singing the praises of John Lennon's vocals under the Macca section of the forum - whatever next?! LOL!

Yes, you have mentioned Lennons vocals on these two songs many, many times! I do not tire of your enthusiasm for them! It amazes me that you know the intricacies of so many Beatle songs yet you claim never to listen to them outside of Beatleweek!

It's all in the mind! No, literally it is! I played them so much growing up they're stuck in my head!

Here's an alternate version/remix that I wasn't aware of until a few weeks ago.
Seen it on CD on eBay but costs a fortune so have downloaded it from iTunes instead.
