I can not believe there is`nt a E.L.O. Thread ! So here it is . A place to talk E.L.O. I`m a very big fan of the band and of course Jeff Lyne has a Beatle connection A very underated band indeed . My fav album . A New World Record. Just a brilliant album . Not a bad track . If there was a poll for the best ending to a song I would put Mr Blue Sky up for the vote . Here is a new interview with Jeff . He has`nt givin up the idea of Touring yet ! Tour Jeff !!! Please ! ultimateclassicrock.com/jeff-lynne-interview-2013/

Yeah, I know, it's a mystery to us all that there hasn't been an ELO thread!
That said, when people were dismissing Lynne over the 'Free As A Bird' and 'Real Love' 45s for being in ELO (perfectly reasonable stance!), they convenient forgot (1%) or didn't know (99%) the truly fabulous 'Birthday Party' by The Idle Race.

I guess your right . I think... ranger. There is so much more to Jeff Lynne than just E.L.O. As well as Idle Race there is The Move and of course he produced and played with George,Ringo, Roy Orberson , Tom Petty in the Wilburys and I guess many more . So this thread will be much more than just E.l.O. The Video on the post above is a fantastic glimspe of how E.L.O. developed over just a few years and I hope dear reader that you give it a watch . Check out Day Tripper on the first part . Your thoughts ? Notice Jeff sings Prick Teaser . Here is the Song that ranger likes . Here is one of my early Fav`s of E.L.O`s (And Paul Wellers !)

I only heard it for the first time the other day when Chris Evans played it on his breakfast show. He loves the song. ELO are a great band. Did you know they are Axl Roses favourite band?

Hello Musty ! I was begining to worry . No I did`nt know Axls Roses fav band was the briliant E.L.O. It is a great song but it`s from 2001 , strange tune to use for a 70`s set film . But hey , glad they did . Also Live And Let Die is in it . I`m really chopping at the bit to see the film.

Nice thread Mr Kite, just thought I would add a personal bit of info. At the turn of the century when I lived in Totnes in Devon I used to know Mike Edwards known locally as Swami Deva Pramada, or just Pramada. He was one of the cellists in ELO's earlier days (on the first three albums I think), he told me when he left ELO, he was at the airport as they were to embark on a tour and just couldn't hack it anymore so resigned. He was a very nice guy and used to teach cello and play in local projects in the Totnes area, working as a driver delivering spring water. Unfortunately in Sept 2010 he was driving his van along the narrow roads delivering the water to various locations, and one of those huge bales of hay rolled out of a field and into the road crushing the cab of his van killing him. I feel the guy was a real gentleman and deserves some remembrance. RIP Pramada.

Here is what I think took Jeff to write the masterpiece Mr Blue Sky It seems that Jeff Lyne wanted to make the perfect feel good song and it took him 2 attempts over the years .(IMO)

The ELO track IMO has a real Beatle type feel to it, I would say more Harrison/McCartney and yes I do like it. I have seen ELO albums at charity shops and car boots so I might pick up a few.
