Hi Beatle People
Just had an email from my mate who lives in Liverpool and he has read the following snippet in recent local newspapers :
'Liverpool City Council have announced that they have scrapped the Mathew Street Festival. It is to be replaced by the Liverpool Music Festival which will still have The Beatles as it`s focal point. The festival will use fewer city centre stages than previous and the Pier head will be the main area in the city centre. More musical styles like folk, country, classical etc are to be highlighted with less emphasis on the use of tribute acts.'
I know Beatleweek and the Mathew Street Festival are 2 separate entities but sometimes, if I feel it's worthwhile, I will visit the Outdoor stages when I visit Liverpool for Beatleweek. I've seen Bowie, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy, Sex Pistols and Bon Jovi tribute bands. They were all excellent too.
Just thought I'd keep you updated.
