I've been playing "The Who Sell Out" (on CD) quite a lot lately. This is a fun album to listen to. I never had this on vinyl, so I can't make any comparisons, but I really enjoy the songs on this. The concept of this album is an imitation of a radio program as broadcast from a pirate ship, as you would have heard in the mid-1960's if you lived in England.
If you like The Who, but haven't explored "The Who Sell Out", maybe you ought to pick up a copy somehow. I love the 1995 remaster with the bonus tracks. The 2 CD "deluxe edition" from 2009 was a bit of a let down. The overall sound is better on the 1995 remaster.
Any fans of this particular album???

I always loved ''Sell Out''. I always had a hard time with the lousy eq-ing. I've never heard the re-mixed version as I only have the vinyl.
Side one, a great tribute to Radio London. Side two, always loved the 'stingy' song. Rael 1 and 2. The ''Underture'' preview....

I was never too impressed with the production on the earlier Who albums. Pre-Tommy Who albums, at least in the USA, sounded like crap. I had the "Magic Bus" album, and it sounded terrible. At least with the 1995 remasters, these early tracks are somewhat listenable now. Still can't get a real stereo "A Quick One". The CD I bought even claimed to be stereo, but is clearly mono.
So for me, "Sell Out" is the 1995 remastered CD. There are a number of interesting bonus tracks as well. "Rael 1 & 2" is certainly a highlight, as are "Sunrise", "Relax" and of course, "I Can See For Miles".
