There was a Todd Rundgren album some time back that was in its entirety a paean (sp?) to the Beatles. First songs sound like they could have been on "Meet the Beatles!", and then the album progressed as theirs did. Maybe called "Outstanding in their Field"?
Interesting listening, but not the bees knees.

Utopia - Deface The Music Inspired by 60's pop music, most notably The Beatles, but also with hints of The Kinks, and early Who, and being Rundgren, The Beach Boys. He'd done The Beatles before, on 'Faithful'. The first half of the album consists of six technically perfect covers: Happenings Ten Years Time Ago Good Vibrations Rain Most Likely You Go Your Way And I'll Go Mine If Six Was Nine Strawberry Fields Forever These very, very nearly sound just like the originals.

I've never been into Todd Rundgren - in fact I would struggle to name a single song by him! But I will certainly check these out. Any chance of posting a few sample tracks?

Give me a day or two and I'll sort it. Btw, my favourite album of all time is Todd's Something/Anything.

Well Al, I tried the mp3 file upload/download technique on a few file hosting sites but none of them worked! So back to a tried and tested method (although sometimes limited depending on availability). I know it's around two and a half years following your request but here's a track from Todd Rundgren's Utopia. Hope you enjoy it. I think Todd did this a little 'tongue in cheek' but nevertheless, he wrote and played some excellent Beatles influenced stuff.

Thanks for that! :-) The only file hosting site that seems to work is www.fileden.com I've tried it a few times and forum members seem ok to play the files I've uploaded there.
