Hi, I'm from Brazil and new to the forum. Greetings to all and hope you forgive my broken english I've been always fascinated with the feud between lennon and mccartney. I remember having read somewhere that lennon once refused to allow paul to get in his apartment at dakota building, in a surprising visit that paul decided to make him. Is that true?

Hello thewalrus and welcome to the Forum. I also remember reading about that. I think John's refusal wasn't rude in that he just didn't want the media getting hold of it and barging the Dakota with thoughts of a Beatle reunion. There also was a story about the same time that John and Paul showing up live on Sat. Nite Live (TV program).

John and Paul were watching that episode from John's place when the host offered The Beatles the standard guest appearance fee to come down right now and appear on the show. I think the fee was a couple hundred dollars. John and Paul seriously considered calling him on it and showing up, but they decided not to after all.
As far as Paul being turned away at the door, I think John would've appreciated a 'heads up' instead of a 'just drop in'. They had 'kissed and made up' but the closeness just could never come back.

Thanks for the replies. The story does not really make sense, since that John and Paul met a few times in the 70s, as is known.
