From Anthology 2, Disc 1 Track 14. I think this version is far more superb than the one released on Rubber Soul, I think the sitar is far more powerful in this first take. What are your opinions on it?

I agree. I first heard it on a bootleg in the '80s and wondered why they didn't just use that one instead of remaking it to get the version they released.
At the same time, I wondered why they didn't put "Leave My Kitten Alone" on Beatles For Sale rather than "Mr Moonlight".

Thank you I've been looking for this for forever. You're welcome. You can find many more early takes and demos on YouTube, they are indeed classics that never made the cut!

The Rubber Soul version definitely sounds more refined

I think the "Rubber Soul" version is the best, but the "Anthology 2" version is an interesting recording.

I think John's vocal is so much better on the released version!

I think George's sitar sounds very amateuristic to me on this recording. Plus I never liked the sound of it anyway. lol. So I prefer the version released on Rubber Soul. Nevertheless an interesting take.

I think that the released version is the better one, but this was good, too.

Same here. I like it as it sounds on Anthology, but prefer the LP version
