Bit steep innit?!!! £460 or £510 for two nights! :-o
They say they are two different packages but as far as I can tell the packages are exactly the same exept one is a luxury room and the other is a deluxe room!

Yeah, I noticed that! Yes, is rather steep, but worth it. I could also get the £5 back that I loaned Shannon (hotel artist) last Beatle Week... I mean the money she is on, like she needs it?! Well I say "she" hmm, me thinks it's a fella?! So, any takers to bunk up with a Nowhere Man on Feb 1st / 2nd? I'm house trained and can throw in a free Liverpool City and/or Beatle tour.

Although the offer of a bunk up is very tempting - sadly I start my unemployment that very week!

She's always kinda reminded me of a hybrid of the female members of Fleetwood Mac, - here, judge for yourselves...

I really do wanna stay there, £120 other nights it seems.
I've watched that place grow and seen the anguish and pain on Bill Heckle's face as Cavern City Tours struggled for funding.
I hope to stay there before the year is out.

Perhaps CCT can be persuaded to host a special event for us humble fans - i.e the skint ones - in lieu of the 2008 celebrations and CCT's 25th Anniversary! It's my idea, so I get free accommodation of course!

Opens this 'Fridee' I'll be there... well, hovering around outside at least!
(Unless somebody wants to share with me that is!)
I still hope to get that £5 back that I "loaned" Shannon!

Meant to upload some pics today, but come into the office an forgotton my camera DOH!
Took a day off on Friday and swanned around the place as if I owned it! At one point I had a comment from a member of staff that it looked like I worked there!
"Are you staying at the hotel sir?" some bar staff would ask "Oh yes" came my little white lie - I was desparate to see The Mersey Beatles be the first band to play there.
I managed to get one of the staff to give me a tour. We decended the stairs into the basement, the architecture of the building is beautiful. "Ah, very interesting" I would comment "One of my corporate clients may want to book this conference room..." (The Hard Days Night Suite) ... which is true, they may want to! The Hard Days Night Suite is just off Hari's Bar (my favourite bar, of which there are two) I was told that this was guest only VIP lounge ... hmm, I thought, this is where I need to take root at 9pm ahead of the gig in the Zygmand [spelling?] Suite.
After my tour I went back up to Bar Four (ground floor) A small, stylish bar, laid back and quite American feeling (the loos are called restrooms for instance) in fact, the whole place feels very American, hmm, I want to feel like I'm in Liverpool, not across the pond, but still, very smart. For those of you that may know, think, Newz Bar (Water Street, Liverpool) meets the Beatles and you have some idea what to expect. Newz is one of a number of stylish trendy bars in the city.
I began to wonder if they were operating a dress code, although I have no confirmation of this, I suspect yes as later I learned of friends that were turned away "We're full" the doormen would say - yet I was inside and it was busy, but not full. Friends of mine that could not get in were in jeans - as I was, but smart-casual, I came prepared and made sure I was in a clean shirt and smart jacket! So be warned, there may be a dress code, bring a smart outfit if you want to get in, although they may relax these rules during Beatle Week.
At £3.50 a pint I thought I better pop out to the cash point for more funds - and got a bite to eat - I think the Subway on North John Street will see an increase in business!
Later I went back into the hotel "Hello chaps" I said to the doormen as they waved me in "Wow, I thought, I'm in, now way I'm missing this gig... or will I be the first person to be thrown out of here?!"
I nervously sat in Bar Four, chatting to Laura - bar attendant and continuing the big fib that I was a guest there for the weekend. The more Cains (yes, they have it there!) I drank, the more confident I got and started to look around again. Once again, I decended the stairs to Hari's Bar "Ooo, I like it here" I thought - a small bar dedicated to George and the Fab's India exploits. I passed Jay (John from the Mersey Beatles) "Alright Rob" he said "Hi yer Jay, how yer doin' mate" came my bold reply... "I'm looking forward to see you and the boys play later, right now I'm in the VIP lounge" All this happened right in front of one of the security staff "Great I thought - It looks like I'm with the band" which is sort of true, I see Jay and the boys play a lot - so I deserved to be there!
A dapper member of staff came into Hari's Bar and announced that "The Mersey BEATS" were about to play and that we should move into the suite as we were the first people to see a live band in the new hotel... guess who was first in and had a front row seat, yup, The Nowhere Man himself.
The Zygmand [spelling?] Suite is the largest suite there - It’s a “big posh Cavern” !
I’d love to write more - but got work to get on with, more news to follow when I can!

No pulling... but I did enjoy a nice meal in The Brasserie restaurant with a friend of mine on Saturday - she is a fellow regular of The Cavern / Cavern Pub - part of The Cavern "Social" Club! I've settled right in at Bar Four - popped in again last night after work just to read the Echo and wind down and ended up being interviewed and photographed by two guys from Japan - they are doing an on-line magazine article on the hotel.

Quality! Did you get to see the Mersey Beatles then? Did you get caught? Have you used the tunnel link to The Cavern? You saying about your Japanese interview reminded me that Steve and I were once interviewed in the Cavern for a Japanese news item about The Parrots (an EXTREMELY good Japanese Beatle tribute band) - I'd forgotten all about that (probably pissed!).

Plan on being back in later to see waitress Michelle (my belle) she was made up when I said that last night! Wish I had time to write loads more / upload pics.

I've been there every night after work and enjoyed the surroundings of 'Bar Four'. On Thursday, I took two work coleagues along and gave them a tour - not sure that we should have just been wandering round - but hey! They later ate in The Brasserie. I crossed the road to The Cavern Pub, met a few regulars, went back over to the hotel and gave them a tour as well!
Each night I've been in I've spotted something different - a picture/photo or even just the way the furniture is laid out! It's not a massive place, but as fans we like to explore places like this. It's not "In your face" Beatles, there are no instruments on show and no reference to the lads playing Liverpool or The Cavern, maybe because it's next door, it may seem a little obvious. I love the Yellow Submarine juke-box in reception/lobby, just like the one in The Cavern Pub.
I'm on first name terms with half a dozen or so staff members who all seem really nice and friendly folk. To be honest, I feel a bit daft going in on my own, just to relax after work - at times I've chatted to a few guests - to the staff, this may look a little odd, like I'm after something, or up to something, but the reality is I like meeting people who are visiting Liverpool and/or the locals and just chat about The Beatles and the city etc.
After talking to a nice couple last night (she was local - he was from Swansea) I just sat back and enjoyed the music - I probably looked anti-social, fed up and lonely (I feel like the male Eleanor Rigby somedays!) but the truth is I was just happy in my own company, getting steadily drunk on Cains FA beer - quite strong... I left about midnight with my head spinning!
I can't wait for Beatle fans from all over the world to see this place - as I say it's a big posh Cavern and a tad expensive for a B&B down the road!
