Any ideas? I know Apple Beatle would love to play the festival one year.

a little tougher than that...best to have someone who is already playing suggest also push for the band to play.

Hey Al..Thanks for thinking of me, and the tips guys, I really appreciate it. It would be a great honour to play especially as we hear about about bands that don't show and calls for more good bands from people we know who have been there. Even as a punter I'd like to go but I am often gigging a lot around this time. We have played all the major outdoor festivals on the Isle of Wight this year like Cowes Week, Ryde Regatta, Mod Weekender, Isle of Wight Festival and Isle of Wight Garlic festival and reckon we would be perfect for Beatles week. I did once get hold of a Ray but he never got back to me after a few email reminders I sent to chase up the call...Shame as we don't get to play off the island much. I have heard it's tough to get in and we don't normally play that circuit. My only real connection is with The Shakers whom I once engineered at the theatre but they never really got to see us play. We play a good balance of Beatles tunes right across the spectrum of their career as a 5 piece normally (A Billy Preston/George Martin on keys/percussion aswell.) All we have at the moment is a www.myspace.com/theapplebeatles and some old recordings which are a good indicator of our standard and some youtube clips. Where I have been working for my local theatre in other capacities aswell as some other band projects, I have not had the time to get on this but have just quit the theatre job to concentrate more on performing and recording again. THis means a good demo within 2/3months max I reckon. (Just kitting out a rehearsal/studio place at the mo.) Want to get us recorded straight after a good run of gigs really. Any assistance or advice gratefully accepted. That was a bit of a catch up aswell Al I suppose. heheh Hope your good and things are well. Sorry I have not been around too much..I'm only a little better at DM's but hoping the lack of responsibility from theatre will give me more time to check in. Cheers again amigo.

There's more to Beatle week than CCT, we played the Albert dock stage on the Monday afternoon, personally I can't think of anything better than performing against the backdrop of the Liver building on a floating stage on the Mersey! better than stuck in a sweaty room in the Adelphi, theres hundreds of pubs and clubs in the town centre all have live music on, best to send a live not studio recording demo to them, also remember these bands don't get paid, and CCT have requests from all over the world from bands in fact they have a backlog of tributes wanting to play at their own expense! If you want I can put you in touch with the right people at the dock. it would be nice one year to have an all British Beatles week but I can't see it happening, its a lot to do with the money the overseas bands bring in by way of tourists.

I like the global village feel of the festival - there's a reason BW's full title is International Beatle Week. And to be honest most of my favourite bands over the years are the non-brits who i'd never have had the chance to see if they didn't come. And that's the same for a lot of regulars.
I think the Easter Eggman festival they tried to establish a couple of years ago (it only lasted 2 years) was aimed to be a more low key British only type thing, as only 1 non-brit act appeared at each event. (BTW both of those were Argentinian - the legendary Dios Salve a La Reine and the not so known Inklan Funk)

That sounds great Eppy. I would still love to do this. The kings ransom they charge for us islanders to get onto the mainland is a lot more than a ferry across the mersey i think. lol I must resolve this one day. heheh. Those Argentinan bands are good! Rain and another one now i think. Good to be logged back in. Been missing the big Al. I will never press clear pvt data and log out again! lol
