End-- I was re-reading the entire topic & came across your offer to host the RR's. If the offer is still open I will need an email to send the files to. While I cannot send them, I will find someone who can. It is a good idea now that v2 is complete & available.

I have asked Steve Katz( he did the transfer to CD) to email u the files. Apparently he has them stored in a comp or in a hard drive at AVG. I will call him next Tues if we don't hear anything. We will go to plan B if for some reason he is reluctant to participate. r

Possibly admin may want to move them over here as they may not stay up forever. www.ftp04.com/lptransfers I downloaded the 17 songs and am listening to them now. I'm not an audiophile but most of them sound good (I've listened to the first 8 so far)/ Help: It's missing the last 3-4 seconds. It fades prematurely. Something: The sounds seems to wobble back and forth, into one ear and then back again. I Me Mine: It goes briefly silent around 1:32 and then comes back. You Won't See Me: Cuts off at the end.

In My Life goes from both ears into the right ear at the end.
The Beach Boys track cuts off prematurely. Is that from their early seventies live album? It sounded sweet.

I've downloaded the tracks - Roscoe, would it be possible to let us know what exactly you have done to each track? I've only had time to listen to excerpts of a couple so far, but here are a few of my observations. Agree about Help - it fades just after the final "won't you please please..." so we miss "...help me, help me, help me... ooh". Martha My Dear appears to have had the L and R channels swapped (I seem to recall you saying something about that before) but regardless of that the piano sounds off to me, sort of like tape wobble - the same can be said of the lead guitar on In My Life; it seems to wobble. I Saw Her Standing There - again channels have been flipped but greater bass presence - guitar solo is lower in the mix These are the only tracks I've skimmed so far - I'll have a proper listen when it isn't 2:30am!

Pls reread topic as I have already posted exactly what was done to each track & why. Help has been faded out prematurely to avoid John's voice failing at the end. On v2 I also faded down the bass about 30 secs b4 the end.
So far I have only listened to Something for 'wobble' & don't hear it, I'll check them all within a couple of days & post. The only weird thing I am hearing is some bird chicks chirping in the background. They are easy to hear if the player is paused. This may be unique to my comp as I have heard it b4 occasionally.
Re: channels-- I have a device hooked up between my IC's that allows one to reverse L & R. I prefer Paul & Ringo on the R with vocals L( mid on 4 tk's).

Apologies Roscoe, I found your explanations on page 1 (was such a long time ago I forgot!):
For everyone else, Roscoe's summaries are below:
Help-- In addition to fading out the track before John's voice fails at the end, there is a bass overload about 30 secs before that. It has been eliminated with a vol modulation at that point.
I Saw Her Standing There-- George's solo really blasts out. I have faded it down and then back up at end of solo.
Back In USSR-- George's solo has again been faded down and then up. The end has also been faded out early B4 Prudence begins. i altered the input bal during the entire track as the side of the G solo is way to prominent. The bal knob was given a little more during the G solo itself as it really cuts. Only vol modulations were employed in RRv1
Old Brown Shoe. The guitar solo on this has been faded down a bit and then segued back up. The end also has been faded.
Let It Be-- To give Georges first lick more presence, I have altered the Bal slightly at that point for a couple of seconds. There is also a Vol surge near the end of this record that has been remedied.
Money-- As the mid 8 really blasts out, this track has been faded down slightly and then back up B4 the vocals begin again.
In My Life-- the harpsicord solo is very overbearing and has been faded down and then up when it is over
Two non Beatle songs are included in the easy catagory. Chuck Berry's Never Can Tell and The Searchers Love Potion # 9. Both of these have had their mid 8's faded down a bit and then back up. Never Can tell has been faded down at the end as well as the Piano blasts out there like it does in the Middle.
Beach Boys--- Do It Again. Since I can find no studio stereo version of this classic, I have used the 1968 Live In London version but have faded it out b4 the song strays from the orig at about 1:35.
Savoy Truffle-- The fade in of this is very awkward and it has been altered to provide a more even Vol level. The guitar solo has again been faded down slightly and then back up.
Baby Its U-- One of the most difficult. The Vol levels have been fade up and down in 4 or 5 different places-- including the mid 8.
I Me Mine-- Another very difficult task. The Mid 8 really blasts and has been faded down slightly and then back up. There is also a noticeable Vol surge in the second A section that has been remedied. A fade in of the Mid 8 has been added to make the track 2 1/2 mins. I believe this has been done B4 but only with the Spector version.
Martha-- Similar to Savoy Truffle the fade in Vol level on this track is awkward and has been adjusted. I also altered the Bal input slightly during the Fr Horn solo (does anyone know who plays this?) An additional vol modulation has been added after the French horn solo, which like vol 1 received a bal modulation.
Mean Mr Mustard/ Poly Pam-- notice the bass overload at the point of seague from Mean to Poly. This has been corrected and Vol level altered slightly in a couple other places. Georges solo has again been faded and the entire track has been faded out to make it end B4 Bathroom begins.
Something-- the Grandaddy of them all. This record really is engineered very poorly. Paul's Bass( does anyone know if this is the Rick or the Hofner?) distorts going into the mid 8 and the mid 8 itself is a big mess. The bass also overloads near the end and this has been corrected. I spent about a hundred hours on this track alone.

Corrections to the above:
USSR-- No vol modulations were used in v2
OBS--- this track is not on v2.
Let It Be--- I did not employ a bal modulation for Georges first lick & there were 2 vol modulations employed near the end on v2
Never Can Tell--- this is not on v2
Savoy Truffle-- The G solo was not faded down on v2.

I have not yet transferred the new RR's to disc but the project on tape is finished as of 2 days ago. The following changes have been made from the 1st vol USSR--- i altered the input bal during the entire track as the side of the G solo is way to prominent. The bal knob was given a little more during the G solo itself as it really cuts. Only vol modulations were employed in RRv1 Help-- in addition to fading out the track before John's voice fails at the end, there is a bass overload about 30 secs before that. It has been eliminated with a vol modulation at that point. Martha-- A much better job has been done. An additional vol modulation has been added after the French horn solo, which like vol 1 received a bal modulation. Beach Boys--- Do It Again. Since I can find no studio stereo version of this classic, I have used the 1968 Live In London version but have faded it out b4 the song strays from the orig at about 1:35. The line up for vol II of the RR's is as follows Something Help Let It Be I Saw Her Standing There Rascals--- Groovin Mr Mustard/ Poly Pam U Wont See Me I Me Mine Baby Its U Back In USSR Searchers--- Love Potion # 9 In My Life Savoy Truffle Money Martha Beach Boys--- Do It Again Long Long Long I will post another update when the CD's have been procured. Bump

In My Life is a bust-- unlike Martha it is also a bust on the master RR CD & my orig TDK as well. The only way I could eliminate the wobble was to go direct to the disc.
I listened to Something again & think it sounds great.

I spent about a hundred hours on this track alone. I still do not get why you are remastering Beatles songs based on a personal preference. I mean over-bearing solos (some people like loud solos), blasting middle 8's (what's wrong with that), the thought process involved in the decision that Johns voice fails on Help (technical perfection does not always mean the best take). I could go on but I won't. I am not denying your technical observations or ability but I think what it comes down to is that you assume you are improving on the original production when in fact you are not as you base your observations on personal opinion. This is what I have an issue with. George Martin, Geoff Emerick, Norman Smith and The Beatles (from 1965 onwards) clearly didn't have any concerns with the final product and neither did the rest of the world.
