Hey all, my name is Jordan and I am NEW to the Beatles, believe it or not, LOL! I ordered Sgt. Peppers, Revolver, and Beatles For Sale and soon to be Rubber Soul as well from Ebay, I've heard these are some of their best albums, does anyone have any advice for me as I enjoy the greatest band of all time? Cheers!

Yes listen to them in the order they were released. BTW how old are you? I asked a girl 19 yesterday if she knew who Paul, John and George were, figuring not to mention Ringo cause that's a name that might give it away, but she had no clue and even when I asked how 'bout Ringo. I thought it was just a fluke and then I asked another girl 23 and she too never heard of them! I was in total shock!

Great! I should have figured by your moniker. When did you find out about the Beatles? and please don't tell me yesterday! lol Well I've known about them for awhile but never could get into them honestly. At the time the Beatles just weren't my type of music. I was much more into metal, death metal, etc and had no appreciation for their music, but lately I have really been into Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin and thought, well hell, I love these bands, why not try the Beatles? So, that's what I have decided to do.

I'm putting on my flame-proof suite as I type this--
See if you can find the Capitol box set for the 1964 releases and start with "Meet the Beatles." It starts with "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and continues with a lot of other high-energy songs. (E.g. "I Saw Her Standing There," "Hold Me Tight," "It Won't Be Long," etc.) I believe it was that energy that made them so popular here in the US. That's how we Americans first heard the Beatles.
It was Dave Dexter's finest moment!
Actually, it was the much maligned Mr. Dexter, who reportedly hated rock and roll, who was responsible for choosing which singles and album cuts to make up the 11 or 12 songs in the American releases, yielding three extra albums of leftover cuts in "2nd Album," "VI, " and "Yesterday and Today." I believe the original cover to "Yesterday and Today" was the Beatles' expression of contempt for the way Mr. Dexter butchered up the content and continuity of their albums.
After that, you may want to listen the the original British releases in the order they were released. Or maybe even listed to "Let It Be" before "Abbey Road."
But I still like "Meet the Beatles" 48 years after I first heard it.

I actually think the "Capitol Masters" was a worthy project and should have been completed for the same reasons you state - it's was interesting to hear the songs exactly how they sounded to American ears.
Bar a few horrors (I Feel Fine & She's A Woman, for example) I found it very enjoyable discovering the differences.

I agree that they should have continued past 1965 to get in Y&T. They could have put it in a box with the American Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, and Magical Mystery Tour. After that the British and American releases were about the same, if not totally identical.

Contrary to the advice above, I say listen to whatever order you want, as I have experience of doing. The first album of theirs I heard was coincidentally also their last; Abbey Road. I didn't know that at the time of course. I just loved the album. As I'm only 25, I wasn't around when they were releasing new records, so the appeal of listening to them in order is nullified. This is only my opinion of course. However, on that note, I used to try to reverse engineer their thinking at the time of each release. For example, having listened to 'Rubber Soul', I was compelled to go back to say, 'A Hard Days Night' and discover what it was that they were trying to convey to the listener, and how or why that morphed into their later work.
It made for an interesting journey.

Listen to songs/albums on youtube and see what you like. There are full songs/albums there. You can also download legally cover versions of songs/albums. I think it is legal.

I was around 16 or 17 when I found the Beatles (they were hiding in the coal~shed!) and began buying their albums (on vinyl) when I was at college. I didn't buy them in the order they were originally released but this didn't take anything away from the genuine excitement I felt as I listened to each one for the first time. I can imagine listening to them in chronological order would be fun though, if only to give you a real feel for the musical evolution that the Beatles experienced in the very short space of time they were together.

Live at the Hollywood bowl. This was the first album I owned as it was the cheapest.mfp label. I was only 12 when I bought it.still love it.
But if I had to do it all over again I would start with early material, the way it was meant to be.
