Crosby Stills Nash And YoungJust thought I would share my thoughts on those 4 names that are on top of this post . How I came to hear the first 3 was when I saw Woodstock .The Movie The song that you hear is Long Time Gone by C,S,N . and then Wooden Ships . 2 mind blowing song that are still today my all time favs . Then we get to see them on stage which as they say that it`s only second time they`ve played together . Judy Blue Eyes suite again blows me away and that night I wanted to find out more about this band . And don`t get me started with Neil Young ! The album Crosby Stills And Nash had those songs I was looking for and more . One of the best albums ever made in my opinion , just a perfect album that is so re playable . The more you hear it the more you get to love it It`s sad that they did`n t hit that peak again , but how could they . For there second album they recruited Neil Young but Deja Vu did`nt have that wow factor . But it still has some of there finest songs like Carry On and the brilliant Almost Cut My Hair which was an anthem for me and my long haired friends back in the day . Also on the album is Woodstock which was written by another brilliant talented singer , Song writer Joni Mitchell Neil young as we all know became a Legend over the next 40 odd years , but the others carried on without and sometimes with Neil . Crosby had a Solo album in 1971 If I Could Only Remember My Name which has Young , Mitchell and Garcia and is a great album and well worth giving a listen too. Stills also had a Solo album out in 1970 Stephen Stills which is another great album and features Love The One You With which a hit . Another star cast on the album Crosby , Nash , Clapton . Hendrix and even our Ringo ! Neil Young ? Well we all know about this man and if you don`t , where the hell have you been . For those who hav`n t had the pleasure of those 4 names that are at the top of this post . I think it`s time you did . A great piece on the CSNY 74 Album . library.creativecow.net/wilson_tim/Review_Crosby-Stills-Nash-Young/1

Couldn't agree more Mr Kite. I genuinely feel there are moments on CSN that are up there with the Beatles such as Suite: Judy Blues Eyes - the bit where Stills sings 'can I tell it like it is' in the middle section constantly sends shivers up my spine. Stills is so good it's scary. Wooden Ships and Long Time Gone are just awesome. Have you heard Jefferson Airplanes version of Wooden Ships? (Paul Kantner co-wrote this with CSN but due to legalities couldn't be mentioned on the album - the original release at least).
I love Déjà Vu but agree it's not as rounded as CSN. I think Young's songs are great but I don't think he makes the album any better than CSN. Love Carry On. Never really understood the popularity of Teach Your Children. Almost Cut My Hair I am, I have to admit, slightly obsessed with. It's one of my favourite songs of all time. So much so I just had to do it in my band. I could never sing it as well as Crosby but I give it my best shot! It's funny, but Crosby's vocal on this got better as the years went by. There are some great you tube clips of him performing it solo with just acoustic guitar.
I just love Our House. Very English, very Lennon and McCartney. 4+20 mesmerises me. The alternative tuning on Stills acoustic and his vocal are out of this world. Neil Young's Country Girl medley is tremendous but doesn't take the band to a new level. Again, Stills vocal on Everybody I Love You is just incredible.
4 way street is a great album too. Stills performance of Black Queen stands out for me. I just wish the album had a complete version of Suite: Judy Blue Eyes and a version of Almost Cut My Hair. Then it would have been even better.

I think Airplane in the Rock Dictionary go under "Stoner Rock"
I don`t think the mushrooms had`n t kick in so early in the Morning for them on this stint . Well... You decide .
Love that tune though .
Remember children don`t take anything that your mother won`t give you ... Or something like that

Saturday Afternoon indeed! They where running with that line and never letting go of it!
Did they really need three lead singers? CSNY had four that where put to exceptional use. They are no comparison to CSNY.
