Me thinks your liking this thread Mr Musty ? Top 5 Rock Singers eh ? You have supprised me with David Coverdale . I wouldn`t really think Lennon or Macca as "Rock" singers . I`m not saying they are not worthy as I would say Lennon On the Mother album and Revolution are probably up there with the greatest ever . Mine ? Tricky . Geddy Lee ( Rush to Moving Pics - Genius) Robert Plant (No worries ) Roger Waters ( The Wall anyone) Roger Daltrey ( Quadrophenia ) Ozzy Osbourne ( Between B.Sabbath to Sabotage . Genius ) Almost made it . Peter Gabriel , Jon Anderson , Ian Anderson , Bon Scott, Paul Rodgers. Sorry Frank Do I get a Karma ? A great rock tune .

Coverdale loses out to Daltrey I'm afraid. Saying that, Coverdale is an exceptional singer; His Deep Purple, solo material and early Whitesnake (Trouble, Love Hunter and Ready and Willing albums in particular). I can't be doing with the later 80's and 90's stuff after he sacked most of his band to break the States. The Trouble album contains an excellent cover of Day Tripper. As for McCartney as a rock singer, come on Helter Skelter, I've Got A Feeling, Oh Darlin', Birthday. These are what most rock lead singers would aspire to be able to sing like. For my money, McCartneys rock vocals are way better than Plants, Daltreys and Ozzy's and many other noted Rock vocalists. You surprise me with Geddy Lee. Most of the earlier Rush stuff that I've heard (not a great deal to be honest) is quite grating on the ears to me. Sorry, no Karma man!

Here's one of my Favorite Chris Cornell songs: My favourite Chris Cornell solo song is When I'm Down from Euphoria Morning. The vocals are incredible, especially at the end. The whole album just blows me away. And for your pleasure......

I'm sorry but that's not the answer on the card! Thurston Moore played guitar on the Backbeat soundtrack! Well slap me around and call me Susan! If I had said that, then the "Within You Without You" answer would've been right! Anyhow, thank you for plugging McCartney as a rock singer. I've always maintained that he has the most versatile voice in pop/rock music. Comforting (I Will) and menacing(Helter Skelter). Here's Old Man McCartney rockin' out like he was....younger, I guess.... Oh yeah... METAL ELVIS? That's great! Here's some more Elvis.. And thanks for ZZ top. There was a time when they weren't known for Eliminator!

Jeeez Mr Musty That Sonic Youth question was a bit down a fare few roads to be Beatle related ! Geddy Lee . I have to say that even though I had listened To Floyd , Zepp, The Who , Lizzy and Deep Purple . The 12 inch I bought of Closer To The Heart and then saw Rush in that winter of 78. Well they put me on the path to without doubt best Genre of music Rock and yes I even grew my hair And my love of gigs all started with Rush . Listen To A Farewell To Kings Geddy at his greatest for me .... and Caress , Hemispheres , Permanent Waves , Fly By Night ,,, A bit of a fave of mine .
