Amazing to see my favourite Who album(and one of my favourite all time albums) dissected and discussed by the people involved.

Thought I`d stick Mc Vicar the full movie on here . For the little Who community on this Forum . It`s dated but still has a great soundtrack . Enjoy .

When The Beatles broke up I really needed another band to follow. I listened to the radio a lot and I finally discovered The Who. "Won't Get Fooled Again" just grabbed me. I love the synthesizer & drum duet, and I decided to get this song. "Won't Get Fooled Again" was on a single, with "I Don't Even Know Myself" on the B side. I hurried home only to discover that the single is horribly edited!!!! The B side was pretty good, so I went and bought "Who's Next" and "Live At Leeds". Both fantastic albums...and even better now in their respective deluxe editions.

I love "Quadrophenia". It just wasn't released at the time when The Who came into my life. And now I even have that obnoxiously huge "director's cut" edition of "Quadrophenia" with the 2 discs of demos and the DVD-A disc with a few songs in 5.1. Not to mention the hard cover "Quadrophenia" book, and a reproduction of the "5:15" / "Water" single with the reproduction of the French picture sleeve. My love for "Quadrophenia" is intense.

"Quadrophenia" is the ultimate Who album. I think as a story it succeeds far beyond "Tommy", which relies too heavily on fantasy. I do love both albums, but "Quadrophenia" is flawless.
Here's a list of my top 10 favorite Who albums...in order of preference.
01) Quadrophenia 02) Who's Next 03) Live At Leeds 04) Odds & Sods 05) Sell Out 06) The Who By Numbers 07) Isle Of Wight Festival 1970 08) Tommy 09) View From A Backstage Pass 10) Who Are You
I'm left wishing for the old days too much when listening to The Who without Keith Moon. It just wasn't the same anymore after he died. There have been a few decent songs in the post-Moon era, but nothing as exciting as the original line-up ever did. I really dislike "You Better You Bet"..."Athena" is plain awful. "I've Known No War" is a decent song, sounds like it was written for "Who Are You". For some odd reason I like "Did You Steal My Money".
Even worse is "Endless Wire". I tried to like it. I didn't. I played it a few times, hoping it would grow on me. I miss Entwistle's thunder fingers too much. In my mind, The Who are no more. If I had the opportunity to see the band touring as The Who, I'd go. I have never seen Pete or Roger perform in person. I think there are too many dead members to call them The Who anymore. I wouldn't want Paul & Ringo to stand on stage and expect us to call them The Beatles.

Acc to Mc Gowan( Laurel Canyon-- www.davesweb.cnchost.com ) , Townsend is into kiddie porn. He has also recently been endorsing the criminal American military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan etc.-- some hippie peacenik. I don't really care for any hard rock whether it be the Who, Zepp, Doors etc. The only R Stones that i listen to now is Street Fight Man, Think & Time On My Side. I would actually listen to 19 Breakdown & Last Time if they could be found in stereo. Just MO here in the land of free speech.

This website you have linked is a joke. Is this website your bible, Koran and Torah all rolled into one? I have come to the conclusion you need specialist help.

I have at least a few problems with Mc Gowan but the Townsend case was all over the media a few yrs ago. IOW-- Mc Gowan is not the only source on this.

Let's rejoice The Who are doing Quadraphenia in our home towns. I have 2 ticks of which I hope mrmustard will make me a suitable cash offer for one. Townsend made a terrible mistake entering his credit card details into a computer. He then was cautioned by the police & put on the sex offenders list for 5 years. he could of took it to court & fight his case regarding his own abuse as a child ,highlighting it was for research purposes for a book he was writing. He took the rap on his knuckles from police ,admitted his mistake & put it behind him. The Who,s legacy is as big as ever & that incident didn't affect their popularity. Make of that what you will. Roll on The who Liverpool 30 June 2013

Indeed it was all over the media. Townshend was cautioned by Police for admitting he entered his credit card details once on a child porn website - he claims for research. Months of forensic research showed he had never downloaded any images and in fact had indeed done so only once. The Police had no choice to caution because he admitted it.
I am not for one second condoning Townshends actions but for you to use the term 'Townshend is into kiddie porn' is ill-judged, ill-informed and plain wrong. Then you use this extremely suspect website to justify your statement. Frankly it's pathetic.
I'm not even going to get into the other assertion of Townshend being supportive of American military operations in Middle East countries.
You talk of free speech but the problem with your kind of free speech and these websites that you use for the basis of your beliefs is that its actually a source of dis-information and not free speech.

Just listened to a CD-R of the audio from "The Who At Kilburn". If you love The Who and don't have this DVD, what are you waiting for?
It is a rough performance, but this classic line-up Who performance from 1977 is exciting (even with its' flubbed lyrics and occasional bum notes). Pete makes a couple of pissed off comments, like "This f***** wasn't even worth filming, Stein" (directed at "Kids Are Alright" film director Jeff Stein).
A highlight of this performance is a medley of "My Generation", "Join Together" and "Who Are You". This is, as far as I know, the only live performance of "Who Are You" with Keith Moon on drums. It's nowhere near as polished as the studio version, but an interesting listen...
Which reminds me...I need to pick up The Who's DVD of their 1976 show from Texas...

I got this on blu ray when it first came out. What's the other concert on the special features that's very rough in terms of filmography?
