No she mentions that she spoke to Lu Walters.

Ahh ok. Sorry. I get carried away about Iris insisting Ringo being on that album. It winds me up!

Ringo is stated in the book as joining the Raven Texan's on March 25th 1959 although he had worked with them as a freelancer does that help any with the dates.

Kool! Well as of 10-30-2012 Wally was still alive. Plus he was born in 1938 which makes him 75. But where is he? As for Ringo being on the CD I think he said he was sick and missed the date or something like that.

By the way I emailed the Merseybeat site to ask a few questions and am hoping for a reply in the near future.

I see the seller put that lapel pin up again, but it's at $19.99 now, before it was 9.99. Oh well inflation in the last week?

I see some resemblance, but for some reason I always thought Rory looked like Roger Daltry (w/o the curls).lol

From the clothes that must be a very late image of Rory. Wonder if it is a publicity shot for the days he worked solo or as a DJ (69-70). Never thought of Daltry but now you mention it.

I also think that might be when he was a DJ. His hairstyle isn't as wild as his Hurricane days.

On looking at that image again I am rather shocked at how thin he is.

Yeah the way the lighting is does make him appear rather thin, but Rory was always a slender guy. Most of the English rockers back then did keep thin and never turned out to be like Elvis did in later life.

Was it true that RSATH had one of the first bass guitars in Liverpool.

That maybe a harder question to answer than you would think pothos. Look at all the bands that were around when Rory's Walter Eymond was on bass. You had The Moondogs (Beatles) Stu Sutcliff- Hofner 500/5, The (Swingin')Blue Genes, Bob's Vegas Five, Cass & Cassanovas, Cliff Robert and The Rockers, The Fourmost, The Merseybeats, The Remo Four, The Searchers and a bunch more obsure ones and most of them all had a bass guitiarist! Some of the contenders Spud Ward, Davey Cooper- Hofner 500/5, Malcolm Linnell, Phil Rodgers, and Tony West to name a few. The choice is yours.

The story I heard was that when the first ones appeared;
A * The amps were either too expensive so cheap one had to be sourced which caused havoc. B * The string were so expensive that using piano wire was the only option. C * That any band who had a proper bass would have a string of visitors just to gaze at the bass guitar as they were just so unusual. D * RSATH's bass was second-hand and the John and Rory arranged to buy it off a women who made her son sell it as it was seen in her eyes at least as a waste of time and money.

Is it also true that Paul really did not want to be the bassist. It was only Stuart's departure that made that happen.
