I'm up for it I'll be arriving on Thursday afternoon, so anytime onwards would be great! Any suggestions of where and when to meet, Catty? Me too Al, me too. As you know from previous posts, my brother and I will be arriving on the Saturday morning, around 10:30. I have to say that, with Beatle Week & The Mathew Street Festival just over 8 weeks away, I'm getting a tad excited. I don't know about you lot who are regular Beatle Weekers, but as soon as I get there, I'm like a kid in a candy store. I check out who's playing where and when and then try to plot some sort of itinerary for the rest of the weekend. And then, invariably I get a little disappointed because I find myself wanting to be in 2 or 3 venues at the same time . There's always bands that I want to see who are playing at the same time but at different places. Last year, we missed out on The Adelphi (Sunday) because there were bands we desparately wanted to see playing either The Cavern Pub/Club or one of the bars along Mathew Street. We're doing The Adelphi this year though. Does anyone else get aggravated and perturbed because they can't be here there and everywhere ( see what I did there?) at the same time? There's a band that I most definitely want to see who have been mentioned on this board (they were that authentic that someone who shall remain nameless posted a YouTube clip of them thinking that they were the real deal!) . They are of course The Fab Four who I have never seen before but intend to put that right this year. I actually e-mailed the guys after visiting their website and watching the videos - wow! Check their videos out here : www.thefabfour.com/ . Absolutely awesome. Anyway, the script of the e-mail responses are as follows : " Hi Michael, Looks like we will be in the Cavern this year after all. You know you’re busy when your fans know more about your schedule than you do… Rock on! The Fab Four www.thefabfour.com--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: The Fab Four [mailto:fabfour@thefabfour.com] Sent: Thursday, June 19, 2008 10:44 AM To: 'Michael' Subject: RE: Beatle Week 2008 Hi Michael, Here is more information: Sat 24th August/Warm up gig in Cavern Club.Front (Beatles) Stage. @8pm This is just a 45 minute rock n roll set. Its whatever is on stage you basically just get up and play. Crazy but great fun. 2nd Gig Sunday 24th Outdoor Stage Mathew Street Festival.@5pm. You are headlining The Festivals Beatles Stage.Again this is a 45 minute set of whatever you choose. This stage attracts an audiance of thousands and is a BIG gig. 3rd Gig. Mon 25th Royal Court Theatre on stage 9.15pm 1hour 30 mins plus encore. Curfew 11pm. This is the Full Las Vegas show. Its an all ticket event and will sell out.Great Theatre.Nice Acoustics. You will enjoy this. Gavin is only playing once with his George Show. He will be in The Adelphi Hotel on Sunday at 5pm to play a 45 minute Georges Greatest Hits Gig. Rock on! The Fab Four www.thefabfour.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: The Fab Four [mailto:fabfour@thefabfour.com] Sent: Thursday, June 19, 2008 10:38 AM To: 'Michael' Subject: RE: Beatle Week 2008 Hi Michael, We will actually be performing at the Royal Court Theatre on August 25. The day before that (August 24) we’ll be at the Matthew Street Festival. We actually played the Cavern last time we were there, but weren’t booked there this time. Hopefully if we do play the Cavern again, the sewage won’t back up into the place again! Our fans did not enjoy standing ankle-deep in sewer water. Rock on! The Fab Four www.thefabfour.com " ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So once again, I may have to 'prioritize' my itinerary. It would be nice to meet some of the members of the Forum for a drink (of which I intend to have copious amounts ) and a chat. As long as the arranged time and place doesn't coincide with a band I want to see playing elsewhere! I'm getting paranoid about this now.

I was lucky enough to see The Fab Four in Vegas last year - my only critisism is the "Imagine" speach from "John" - it's well-meant but totally over the top, in my opinion. I'm starting to do the Beatle Week count-down now!!!

I'm up for a meet-up deffo It's not going to be easy to pick a best time to suit all, so I suggest we do a few! I got an an advance programme yesterday (they are not even on sale yet!) and like another forum user said, I've sat down and worked out who I want to see when and where for the whole week... of course I will have a few drinks and the organisation will go out of the window! Hi to 'Cattyfish' and The End... see yer all in a couple of days.

Thanks Bobber, pity you can't make it.
My Beatle Week will start in The Cavern Pub tomorrow at around 3pm, with the opening night having a fairly typical line up of:
CAVERN PUB: 5pm: Jay Murray ("John" from the Merseybeats) 6pm: Marcus 5pm: Jay Murray 8pm: The Beatelles (make sure you get to see these once or twice) 9pm: Marcus 10pm: The Shakers 11pm: Hal Bruce 12am: The Shakers
The build-up is always one of the best times for me, before the whole world takes over my local pub / club and I can't get in! (and so head for the Adelphi!)
Thursday 21st August: CAVERN PUB: 12pm: TBC 1pm: Hal Bruce 2pm: Marcus 3pm: The Cavern Kittens 4pm: The Tearaways - I'm looking forward to seeing these again and they are Joey Molland's band (Badfinger) on the outdoor Derby Square stage at 3 3-45pm on Monday. Derby Square is near Mathew Street and I urge any of you to experience even a little of the outdoor stage part of the weekend. Derby Square is the Dedicated Beatles Stage and The Merseybeatles play there 2-2.45pm (before Badfinger) so well worth a look. 5pm: Jan Britten Owen 6pm: Merseybeat (ARG) 7pm: 4! (ARG) 8pm: Hal Bruce 9pm: The Cavern Kittens 10pm: Jon Keats 11pm: The Blackbirds 12am: Los Brandys 1am: The Beatelles
CAVERN CLUB (Front): 2pm: Tony Murtagh 3pm: Merseybeat (ARG) 4pm: 4! (ARG) 5pm: The Blackbirds 6pm: The Shouts 7pm: The Shakers 8pm: The Beatelles 9pm: The Tearaways 10pm: Instant Karma 11pm: The Repeatles 12am: Jon Keats 1am: Eletrika Barbarella
CAVERN CLUB (Back) 7.30pm Jan Britten Owen 8.30pm Clube Big Beatles 9.30pm Elvis Bretinni 10.30pm The Merseybeatles 11.30pm Merseybeatles & Elvis 12am The Blue Meanies
The back room at The Cavern on Thusday is the "Elvis Meets The Beatles" event which is individually priced at £8.

FAO: The End & Cattyfish...
Forum meet-up
It's going to be difficult to fit it in folks, looking at the usual packed programme!
11 am or 12pm Saturday in either The Cavern Pub or The Grapes have been mentioned, however, this clashes with the "I am The Wirral" event 12-6pm in Birkenhead, £15 (inc. return ferry trip) as an individual event or as part of some of the package deals. Some of the forum users are in bands playing this event (ie The Beatelles). The "I am The Wirral" event looks great and I'd say a better event than the Penny Lane one last year. It takes in three venues in Birkenhead across 4 stages, including the excellent Pacific Road, a great little theatre where I saw Gerry Marsden earlier this year.
So... when can we fit this in?!
As I said in a previous thread, lets have a few! As people will be arriving on different days this is probably the best way to do it.
Providing most people arrive on the Friday, between 5pm and 8.15pm may be suitable as this is a gap between the "Hall of Fame" show and the "The Gig The Beatles Never Gave" feat. American English, both gigs held in the Adelphi Ballroom. NOTE: "The Gig The Beatles Never Gave" feat. American English (£10) or part of some package deals, has been moved from THE CARLING ACADEMY to the ADELPHI BALLROOM, The Academy made a double booking, DOH! ... oh well, it saves having to move over the road!
