It was yesterdays. I saw them too in the front of the cavern on Tuesday. They did mainly solo stuff and their song choices where really interesting. It would have been the Get Back Band but they never did my twice requested Maybe I'm Amazed!! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Getback band have so many numbers to choose from and this year wanted to include a tribute to John Lennon in most of their gigs. The bands have a strict 45 minutes and so have to unfortunately work with setlists! Maybe I'm Amazed was due to be played at The Adelphi gig but this was cut short as the two comedians over-ran slightly just prior to the band going on stage and therefore 'ran out of time'. Sorry about not doing Maybe I'm Amazed but next year!!!

I play in a band myself and if we did every request we where asked for we wouldn't get the set done! So basically, we don't do requests - unless it's in the set of course! The Getback band were one of the best bands I saw over Beatleweek.

Have you any idea why the singer/keyboard/guitarist was also playing guitar with The Dublin Rockets (he wasn't supposed to be according to the programme)? Interestingly he didn't play much guitar with Beatles For Sale but was the lead guitarist with The Rockets. With the Rockets he was one of the best guitarists I saw all week. He is one hell of a talented guy!

Best band for me was Nube 9, with Beatles for Sale and The Dublin Rockets getting good reports and doing Ireland proud. Highlight was Joey Molland and The Tearaways, Most improved: The Beatelles. and worst bands were BX4 and Back from the USSR...sorry, not my cup of tea....

i think someone on stage at some point said something about someone being ill, but not sure. When abouts? My mum fainted in the bit between the back and front stages in the cavern before one of our shows cos it was so crowded and hot. She was ok though, but got a cut on her head.

I saw her Ross - didn't realise it was your Mum!!!! We were trying to get out 'cos we were due to play over at the Cavern Pub and they wouldn't let us past her!!! Poor woman! It was very hot down there (as usual) and your set was warming it up even more!!! They looked after her well. Give her our regards.

The 45 minute set was shortened by 8 minutes!!! Grrr! LOL

Ross thats terrible! They really need to sort out the heat in that place! I thought it was cooler this year but when so many bodies are packed in such a small space it can be unbearable! Hope she was ok!

the ill person i was referring to was the normal dublin rockets guitarist. missed off the quote, sorry.
Sorry to hear about your mum Ross, good to hear she's ok now.
But htf does a bar run out of water, even if there's no bottled stuff left in stock there's usually a sink with a tap attached. or is it just where i work where the staff drink tap water and have to wash glasses by hand when the glass washer starts flooding the place!
Not the first time i've heard of someone fainting in there due to the heat. Years ago a friend of one of of the Beatals (Nottingham based group) fainted during one of their BW sets, and more recently i know Den from the Overtures got close to it on stage when they played the Cavern a couple of years back. And there's bound to have been other odd ones as well, that haven't affected people i know of.
I know the heat is authentic, but i think it's getting to a health and safety issue particularly when we get hot summers, or even wet ones as that dfrives the humidity up.
believe it or not in january/february time especially if it's half empty you actually need a jumper in there.

Saw a lot of bands so can't remember all the names & right now can't be bothered to dig out the programme book: The Overtures @ The Philharmoic were awesome , Nube 9 great (saw them several times in different venues) all performances were great , BeApple from Holland were impressive as were Back from the USSR But for me the stand out performance was Marcus Cahill & The Escarabajos doing the Imagine Album at the MSF. Their gig at The Adelphi was amazing as well. Meeting Pete Best at The Casbah was a personal highlight for me.

The band that blew me away this year was Get Back Band. They did Stand By Me on the Friday night in the Cavern Pub and it was amazing. I filmed the first few seconds but regret not filming it all. All the classics then in the Ballroom on Sunday were great too although preferred the atmosphere of the C Pub.

Wow - thanks for that. The Getback Band just love the atmospher at the Cavern Pub - it always rocks! We thought that the Adelphi gig was great and really enjoyed doing that too. Hopefully we can do it again this year!
