All these albums are official (sort of, in the case of the Star Club album!) new releases and contain new material or remixed/alternate tracks that differ to the original versions. Please choose your favourite and elaborate if you so wish!

I see 100% of responders agree with me that it is Beatles at the BBC - wow! Oh, maybe it's because I'm the first to reply Anyway, to me it's sort of the "Roots" album. I love it!

Beatles At The BBC walks it for me. It's a shame they've never released another volume.
If it was worst, I'd have to go for 'Naked', as anyone from DM's knows!
I'm glad you didn't include any of that crud like Rock 'n' Roll Music, or 'Love Songs'.

I voted for Live At The Hollwood Bowl because it's a great live album that captures the band in all their glory at the height of Beatlemania. Great live versions of She's A Woman, Dizzy Miss Lizzy & Things We Said Today that are much better than the studio ones. I put LATHB with other great live rock albums like Alive by Kiss, Get Yer Ya Yas Out by the Stones & Live Bootleg by Aerosmith. The only silly thing about it is George Martin mentioning the Bay City Rollers at the time.

Having previously voted for 'BBC', I would now vote for the new Purple Chick 'Star Club'. The best Star Club release I've ever heard.

Hi BM -
What makes it so good - reprocessed sound quality, more songs, more chatter (love to hear the boys talk!), etc.?
I've stayed away from sites like Purple Chick etc. because of time constraints, but if the goodies are really that great, I may have to imbibe!
Thanks!

The BBC album, easily, and for all the obvious reasons. Anthologies next.

I was quite moved my first listening to the first Anthology, but the BBC set gets more listens. "Soldier of Love" alone makes it a keeper.

I agree with Woodbine re: 'Soldier of Love' The Beatles at the BBC is a classic album, and they should have done another one, maybe a more complete version with a full show on, to me as a musician its was a tutorial listening to how they did these songs live. 'Gonna sit right down and cry over you' 'Keep your hands of my baby' 'Some other guy' classic Cavern material.

'Gonna sit right down and cry over you' 'Keep your hands of my baby' 'Some other guy' classic Cavern material. I've said this a million times already, but Ringo's drumming on "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry" is absolutely amazing - contained in that track is the reason he replaced Pete Best. For me, two other stand out tracks are "Soldier Of Love" and "A Shot Of Rhythm And Blues" - I remember first hearing these tracks on the first series of Beatles At The BBC broadcast in the Seventies and they were immediate favourites of mine. It wasn't until years later that I discovered the Arthur Alexander connection!

"Yellow Submarine Songtrack" got my vote. It's a collection from my favorite period and I love the way the songs were remixed. I only hope that the 9-9-09 reissues sound as good. But my favorite version is the Dr. Ebbitts mono mix with all the rare versions (extra long edit of "It's All Too Much", the Boob version of "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds"etc.).

Love. I have the version with both the CD and the audio-only DVD for my surround-sound system. It's great! I didn't realize so many Beatle songs were in the same key and same tempo, allowing George Martin to merge some of them together. It works.
