Hello Al, Michael from NI here, thanks for the welcome.
Will try to pop in on Saturday @ midday.
I'm working until 4pm on Friday and have to get the 9pm flight from NI.
So all being well I'll have the energy.
Cheers

I normally just book a hotel for my stay and then just come and go wherever and whenever I please Festival first timer here and our group has also chosen not to buy a package. I realise that there will be lots of things going on around the city with some being free and some at a cost. Is there anywhere that we won't be allowed into without a wristband? We would be quite keen on spending some time in the Cavern.

You would be allowed in the Cavern Club but on most days you would have to pay an entry fee. Plus some of the gigs in the back stage will be ticketed events.

We would be quite keen on spending some time in the Cavern. Hi Stellaartois 1366 Al's right. The Cavern will charge an initial entrance fee - usually a couple of quid - and if you want to go somewhere else and then return to The Cavern, you'll get a 'passout' by way of a stamp on the back of your hand. The pubs like the Cavern Pub just across the road from The Cavern will be free entrance as will be most of the pubs in the Mathew Street area. You must go to The Hard Day's Night Hotel. Don't ask for the HDN cocktail though - it'll set you back around £25 or so! Places like The Adelphi, especially on the Sunday will charge over a fiver to get in but if you're prepared to stay there all day (you won't get a 'passout' if you haven't paid to get in), get there early, around 8:30am before they start the pay at the door scenario and then look around the main hall where there will be lots and lots of traders - a bit like a big market - selling all manner of Beatles memorabilia before enjoying the live bands during the rest of the day. Also, one not to miss is The Alma De Cuba Bar which, I believe is hosting lots of Beatles bands from midday on Saturday. You'll have to pay somewhere around a fiver for entrance. The open air stages dotted around the city are all free too. So, you can get into places without the wristband - but at a price. I'm not aware, and someone might correct me on this, of anywhere that is exclusively for wristband holders only. Maybe if you return next year, you can work out how much you spent in entrance fees this year and then decide whether a package will be a more economic, viable option? Another thing to consider is, that with the package, you get a well designed comprehensive programme of events in the city. You can pick up a less comprehensive 'Mathew Street Festival What's On' booklet for free that'll tell you who's on where in and around Mathew Street. Are you going to the Forum meet-up on Saturday? If so, I'll see you there. Have a great time during your first time festival - I promise you - you will!

Invaluable info there Arthurlee - just to pick up on one point though, the programme isn't free to anyone on a package either! So if you don't fancy shelling out around £8.00 for it you would be better off relying on the Mathew Street booklet... or better still, ask to see NowhereMan's planner (which is seriously a work of art - not kidding!).

Last year i seem to remember this was about £5
Tickets for the late night Adelphi stuff needs to be purchased in advance and they cost £15 a time.
Convention day (sunday) tickets cost the same.
Alma De Cuba tickets are £15
the BW programme is available in the Adelphi, Cavern Club, Cavern Pub, the Beatle Shop & i believe the Liverpool 08 shop. last year it cost £8 and is well worth the investment to know what's on.

You must go to The Hard Day's Night Hotel. Don't ask for the HDN cocktail though - it'll set you back around £25 or so! I would be more concerned about accidently ordering the Fab Four cocktail at the HDNH. It will set you back £250!

That's spot on with the prices Alix. It wasn't that long ago it used to be free on the Tuesday for the Cavern and Cavern Pub but £5 is still a great deal as is £15 for the convention. I am surprised it's so cheap when you consider what's on offer during the day.

or better still, ask to see NowhereMan's planner (which is seriously a work of art - not kidding!). Yes, I need to scribble that down tonight, hopefully I can pick up a programme later and work it all out.

I will save you a journey Rob. They still aren't out in the cavern or cavern pub. I have just been in. The cavern say possibly tomorrow and the cavern pub haven't got a clue when they are in. Unless you have an alternative supplier!

It appears that the 2010 programme is being uploaded to the Beatleweek Festival page (well I haven't noticed it before on the site anyway!). So far Wednesday, Thursday and Friday have been uploaded and Saturday is in progress. The Shakers are playing, so far on twice on Thursday. beatlesfestival.co.uk/?page_id=1516

Thanks for keeping me right Alix. Sorry if I misled anyone into thinking that entrance fees etc. were a lot cheaper than what they actually are! I tend to lose all sense of financial perspective as I get older and have no concept at all of how much things are or how much they should be! That's why I probably get ripped off from time to time! Anyway, looking forward to the Festival and looking forward to my first pint in The Cavern. Is it still £1.15 a pint in there?

Great info from both of you guys, the main thing is that you set my mind at ease that a wristband is not essential. Thanks very much for sparing the time to reply
(£1.15, lol)
