Hi Everyone! Well, if you are lucky enough to be going to Beatle Week 2010, maybe you would like to meet up with your fellow Beatle Forum members! This has proved to be a huge success over the years and it's a great way meet like-minded people from across the world and Manchester! Here are the details: Meet on Saturday 28 August at 12:00 midday in The Grapes, Mathew Street, then at aprox 1pm-ish move onto either The Cavern Club/Pub (depending who's playing)! After that, it's up to you - we could maybe move on to somewhere a bit quiter for a few more drinks and plenty of random chat! If you would like my mobile number, do please feel free to PM me. Really looking forward to seeing you all there! AL (The End)

MAY have to review this as I think the proposed time clashes with a Pete Best gig at the Casbah!

Its a few miles but they are supplying buses to take you there. I'm in two minds at the moment to go there. Do they have bands playing in the Adelphi during the day?

They sometimes have bands playing on the Saturday in the Adelphi (Hall of Fame I think) but it's really branched out from Mathew Street over the past couple of years, now notably including Alma De Cuba (HIGHLY recommended), Jackaranda and the Casbah.

Well, I'll be lucky if they let me on. I didn't book my Beatleweek via the official Cavern City thingy so I won't have the magic wristband. I normally just book a hotel for my stay and then just come and go wherever and whenever I please although, overall, it can prove more expensive than the official booking.

I agree with Al on this one. The Alma De Cuba is not to be missed.

To save any problems, why don't we go on a 'Ferry Cross The Mersey' courtesy of Nowhere Man? Apparently, Al knows quite a bit about the Panoramic Bar! . . . . or maybe not!!

Maybe i'm being thick, but aren't you all meeting on Saturday?
Unless the casbah thing you are going to is a non-CCT/BW thing there's no clash. The Casbah event in the BW programme is Friday afternoon.
Saturday afternoon is Alma de Cuba or the auction (where this year John Lennon's toilet is be sold - no i'm not joking!)

Hmmmm, interesting - it was someone else that told me about Pete Best playing on the Saturday so I guess we'll have to wait to see if it's official or not. I'll check the Pete Best website I don't think I'll be bidding on John Lennon's toilet... I'm not that flush! LOL! :-)

The Beatle Forum meet-up won't clash with Pete Best's appearance at the Casbah Club - this from his website:
BEST FEST
Best Fest Saturday the 28th of August (NIGHT 7.00pm to 12.00am) Casbah Coffee Club in association with Merseycats presents,
Best of the Beatles - The Pete Best Band
SPECIAL GUEST - Chas Newby who played on bass guitar for The Beatles when they returned from Hamburg, Germany. He performed at their first Liverpool show at the Casbah. Chas was on bass guitar at Litherland Town Hall for the birth of Beatlemania. It a real coop having him perform with The Pete Best Band to mark The Beatles 50th Anniversary.
Earl Preston and the TT's - The time fits. When The Beatles performed in concert for the first time, which was at the Casbah Coffee Club they used the TT's equipment. Both groups shared the bill that night at the Casbah Coffee Club on the 17th of December 1960. It seems only right they should be here to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the greatest band in the world.
The Undertakers featuring Jackie Lomax (Sixties recording stars and once The Beatles greatest rival in Liverpool. Jackie Lomas was also signed with Apple Records. George Harrisons favourite singer)
Karl Terry and the Cruisers - Sixties recording artists. Also, when The Beatles and Gerry and the Pacemakers formed a super group for one show called The Beatmakers, neither John , Paul or Gerry took the lead vocal, no instead it was left to Karl Terry the only member of the super group who was neither a Beatle or a Pacemaker. Expect some dynamic performance from "The King Of Shake" to quote Bob Wooler.
The Del Renas (Sixties recording artists - This Is Mersey Beat Vol 1 and Vol 2 on the Oriol Label) Another great group from those dizzy Mersey Beat years.
The Beatles 1963 (Featuring Gizz Butt lead guitarist of The Prodigy) who could forget The Prodigy's "Fire Starter." Gizz will be starting fires of a Beatle nature this time around.
Plus more top sixties groups to be announced. Casbah Coffee Club West Derby Village Liverpool L12 7JG UK Showtime 7.00 to 12.00am It's the Casbah Coffee Club 51st Birthday weekend

Al,
I assume we are still meeting in the Grapes on the Saturday at 12.00pm. However, if this changes, and as I will be off from 25th August (haven't got access to a computer outside of work), could you please let me know before then.
Alternatively, Rob has got my mobile number (and I've got his).
Thanks, Wilf
