This is still TOP of my list of books to get - still saving up as it's not available in Europe yet and the shipping is half as much as the book! www.recordingthebeatles.com/

Yeah, I was on my way ordering it last year. It costs 100 dollars, plus over 50 dollars shipping/sending. That was a bit too much to be honest. Sorry Brian. Can you come and bring some over to Europe?

How about doing a book signing at Beatle Week next year? Seriously, I know there will be a hell of a lot of interest from the UK and Europe.

Sorry - I AM here, just not all the time. I think you would LIKE the book and see why it's worth more than other books - if you'd seen it. I go to England ALL the time and the exchange rate is SO GOOD for the English people that $148 for you is like us spending (LESS than) $100; which a lot of people have done to buy it here. Our book took forever to make - and we hope to get paid for the thousands and thousands of hours (almost 15 years!) it took to write it. It's going well though and nearly everyone seems to like it - on whatever level.

I have absolutely no doubts as to how good Recording The Beatles is - it's just the cost of postage is kinda irksome (is that a word?!), which is obviously no fault of yours. I'll probably order it drunk one night!!!
Have you ever been to Beatle Week in Liverpool, Brian? Your book would absolutely fly off the shelves there!

Irksome IS a word! But it only costs a lot to ship becausr it weighs 12 pounds!! It's very big and very heavy.
I don't think people in Europe realize (realise, UK!) that IF it was sold in stores in UK/Europe there would be no shipping but it would cost at least 150 Euros or around 100 Pounds Sterling which is as much money - because the book has to be shipped there first to sell! Either way, this is what it costs. It is not a small paperback book of 250 pages, but that's GOOD; it takes a long time to get through and it's high quality paper and so on.
BTW - it's sold out right now. We are printing more soon, but it will take a while for this to happen.

Ok, you talked me into it! Any chance of a signed copy?!

Tricky to get the signed - the books are in Texas (when not sold out) and I am here in L.A. We did the first run signed for people when it FIRST came out, so we don't sign orders usually to keep theirs special (they DID jump in and order sight unseen, very bold!)
However, we WILL be around at shows and conventions, and are happy to sign any in person!

We hope to, last year was planned but they had scheduling issues, and so did we.

Well I WILL be going this year and I'll bring my cheque book if you have some books to sell!
By the way, is the book still available in two formats - standard and deluxe?
|
|
|
Post by briank on Jan 5, 2008 8:51:15 GMT
Well, there has never been a "standard" book yet. Only the Deluxe - people keep buying it (it is sold out again), so why stop selling the nice one? It's much more impressive and the cost difference is not much.

The new book is announced. It's different, an art book of special photos. You may go to our Curvebender website and see it. We do try to be NOT too self-promoting online.
