My honest opinion on 50 Words Of Snow is that it`s half fantastic , half average I think it needs time on it Never was keen on The Sensual World when it came out and now I love it ! I must give it a blast tomorrow , which is apt , as we have snow !

I must give it a blast tomorrow , which is apt , as we have snow ! The Sensual World to be honest is the last Kate Album i've loved. I thought the Red Shoes sounded a bit too normal , not Kate enough. I remember either Newsnight review or the Culture Show reviewing Aerial and one of the critics(can't for the life of me remember his name, think he worked for The Guardian) was rather sniffy about it , mentioning you can tell that Kate had been away from the music scene for very long and you can hear it here, i unfortunately agreed with him and found the album on the whole made me feel melancholic. Yes there are some good tracks, King of the mountain(which was wrote in 96) and a few others but overall i was a bit disappointed. I hear what you are saying on 50 Words For Snow that it needs several listens, but this was never the case for me on every album up to and including The Sensual World were instant joys.

That reviewer was John Harris and I too saw that review. I love Aerial although I do wonder if Kate releases so little she feel she has to put everything on the LP. A little editing would tighten up a couple of LP's but her work is still way ahead of many of her contemporaries. I think she is an artist who never fitted in and so at times she is fashionable and sometimes she is not. However she is always Kate Bush.

I didn't want to agree with him at the time but once i'd played the album several times and still was'nt getting it i had to agree with him. Think they showed a clip of this on some programme the other day, may have been THe Kate Bush story.

I also struggled with Red Shoes at first Funny , how time changes your outlook on Music The album gave us Moments Of Pleasure which must be a top 5 best Kate song , so it`s not that bad !
I have 50 Words on now and I forgotten about Bertie ..
As for Ariel ! I love it , maybe my fav Kate album if I had a gun against my head . It will be on the Exercise list 100%
As we have a bit of attention on here , I would love to know people, your least top 5 songs ( if that`s possible ?!)

In no particular order
The man with the child in his eyes Sat in your lap The dreaming Big Sky Jig of life This woman's work King of the mountain Aerial
That's 8 of the top of me head. I'm bleary eyed looking at coffee and preparing for a Sr appointment.
I love all of the dreaming and hounds and all of Aerial. Three absolute crackers!

Big Sky is such an underrated song, to be honest i'd have loved Kate to have finished her Before The Dawn with this rather than Cloudbusting, it's a real upbeat rocker and the video is great too. I'll need more time to think of a top 5

Oh gosh. I just re-read Mr K's post and he said least favorites. I gave my most favorites. Wouldnt want anyone to think I disliked big Sky. I even like that bloody washing machine song on Aerial.

Just been thinking about Running Up That Hill. Could that be the most important track of her career. She had just come off a "flop" LP The Dreaming and had disappeared for a couple of years. Hounds of Love really brought her back into the spotlight and that single set everything up nicely.

I totally agree Pothos Running Up That Hill was the song that had everyone talkin about Kate again The thing I remember when I bought Hounds Of Love was The Ninth Wave It totally blew me away I was playing it almost every night I did then and still now think it`s a Prog Masterpiece A Kate mag I recently bought did a run down on Kate`s best songs Number 1 ? Running Up That Hill .
