I'll buy a pint of Cains www.cainsbeer.com/index/index.html at this years IBW for the first beatleforum.com user who is able to answer the following question correctly: What was on top of The Liver Building before the Liver Birds were there?Cains Bitter is available at The Hard Days Night Hotel, Rigby's on Tithebarn Street, near The Cavern or the full range including lagers and other beers is available at Doctor Duncans, St John's Lane near St George's Hall.

As I live in Liverpool, I am not taking part in this competition. But I can give a clue (somebody told me last night) : It is quite evident when you are on the river (on the ferry for example).

Either nobody can be bothered to have another guess, or this question really is Google-proof!
Or maybe nobody likes Cains!
In which case, prize is extented to one drink of your choice (er, at a reasonable price, the £750 "Fab Four" cocktails in the HDN Hotel don't count!)

Alas, non of the above answers are correct, good guesses though!
Nothing would give me greater pleasure this IBW than to buy a pint of Cains Bitter for the winner in The HDN Hotel, so I'll offer up a clue ... and Shh, the one or two of you on here who I've told the answer to, if you answer, the competition is void, you know who you are!
The clue is... Don't think so literally
There, easy!

Liver Eggs?

Liver Eggs? CORRECT! (yes, it was a trick question!) I did a walking tour of there years ago and the guide posed the question, everyone looked puzzled and gave similar answers as above, then he said: "Two big eggs!" So, revolverdundee, your answer is close enough to win the prize! Cains Bitter in the HDN Hotel ok for you, or would you prefer something else? I'll be watching Revolver a few times over IBW, so I will deffo get yer that pint in!

Yeah, sorry folks, could not resist that one!
Ok, easy one, just for fun, which is the male and which is the female Liver Bird?

Haha Serious??? I was joking! I won't turn down a free pint though! The female one is looking out to sea, the male is looking inland. Is that 2 pints now?

The one that faces seaward is the female apparently checking to see when the sailors are coming into port, the male one faces into town to see what time the pubs open!! Or something like that!

No, all true, verified by the same independent adjudicator that overlooked my 5-2 thrashing, er I mean the meet-up vote. It's easy... where do birds come from? (apart from The Cavern/Cavern Pub ... eggs of course!
