Just finished listening to the 1968 Simon & Garfunkel masterpiece "Bookends"... "Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon... Going to the candidates debate... Laugh about it, shout about it, when you've got to choose... Either way you look at it you lose" Funny how some things never change Bunch of fantastic songs on this album: Save the Life of My Child, Mrs Robinson, At the Zoo, America, Fakin' it, A Hazy Shade of Winter...but this one has always been my favorite...

On what was sort of the title cut of the S & G Bookends album is the line "How terribly strange to be 70." Now Simon and Garfunkel are in their 70s.

Thanks for the Francoise Hardy clip Brewmaster. What a sublime, magnetic and beautiful delivery of a wonderful song. I loved this song whilst growing up in the sixties. I think it's Francoise's diction and (not so) broken English - if you know what I mean - that makes this song such a joy. It was personally poignant for me back then and even more so recently .
This is a more recent version of the song by Katie Melua. She makes a good job of it.

I still have "All over the World" on my playlist of Sixties favourites. Thanks for the version by Katy.

Up & Running were a Liverpool duo. I always thought this song could be a hit for a current artist/band:

Gave "Between the Buttons" a few spins over the past couple days. I absolutely love this one and it's my 2nd fave Stones album behind Beggars Banquet. This is, of course, the last Stones album before Sgt Peppers changed the world and I find it a fine mix of quirky psychedelic and the straight ahead R&B the Stones were famous for, but still in a way that fit their style...rather than a near total redefinition like Their Satanic Majesties Request. An album I also love...mostly...actually, if they'd dropped the 8 minute psych-jam "Sing this All Together (See What Happens)" and replaced it with "Dandelion" and "We Love You" it might have been my 2nd fave Stones album instead

Still on Miles Davis. Blue Moods (1955) Features a vibraphone. Gotta love a vibraphone.

Heard this on the radio the other day, and it took me back to the Seventies. It's got everything, girls' soft voices, soaring strings and a vibrant guitar break.

Brewmaster. Totally 70s AM radio fodder. Brilliant.
Rocky. For a time I had my JV set up in the spirit of SRV'S guitar: the heaviest strings possible and the highest action possible. I kept it that way long enough to impress all my friends then went back to medium strings and low action.
Today I really enjoyed Jesca Hoop's Hunting My Dress. Great album.
Also don't tempt me with more music because my hard drive is now officially full. There's 21 MB of space left and it'll be another month or 2 before I can get another one.

Tom Robinson Band. Why? Because Tony and Julie said he was great. And I missed him first time 'round.
