Although I missed them from my poll (dunno how I managed that!!) The Hollies are one of my favourite Sixties bands! At the moment I can't get enough of "Look Through Any Window" - I heard this played by The Overtures at The Cavern a few years back and they breathed new life into the track - I heard it with different ears! Absolutely love it! I may even post it for you

I have to admit I am not really familiar with The Hollies but I really like this. Reminds me of early Who, in a way. What year was this released?
Got any more tracks I might like?

Yeah - it has that "mod" sound which is probably why I love it so much! The song was released as a single in 1965 and was their first to make the US charts. Yep I do have some more :-)

I've always liked The Hollies since the seventies, when they had hits with The Air That I Breathe and The Day That Curly Billy Shot Down Crazy Sam McGee. I also like their earlier stuff, with Look Through Any Window and Bus Stop as favourites. I'm Alive is great too! The Baby and I'm Down (not the Beatles song!) are fine tunes to my ears as well. They were great in harmonies and they still exist, although I think that leadguitarist Tony Hicks is the only original member left. Alan Clarke left some years ago, cause he felt his voice was letting him down. Graham Nash left at the end of the sixties of course to join David Crosby and Stephen Stills.

My fav Hollies songs have always been Just One Look, I'm Alive. Look Through Any Window, and King Midas In Reverse. Excellent band. When you ask people about great 60's bands, they're often overlooked. People go on, on some Beatles forums about 'wonderful harmonies', but they can't hold a candle to The Hollies.

The Hollies are still a fab live act. There is only two original members nowdays. But still well worth going to see. In fact I am going to see them next week, live in Preston!! I too have heard The Overtures perform The Hollies at Beatleweek, superb and they sound so much like them. All The Best, Martin Although I missed them from my poll (dunno how I managed that!!) The Hollies are one of my all time favorite groups. I have to disagree on this one, though. I think the Hollies were awesome in what harmonies they wrote and set out to do, but on my "Hollies Greatest Hits" they are out of tune a lot more than I would expect from an album. They are more ambitious in most of their harmonies than the Beatles, but to be honest, I think the Beatles did it right a lot more often than the Hollies!

From what I've heard, which admittedly isn't much, the harmonies sound faultless to my untrained ear.

On which tracks Alexis? Hi - I'll need to pop it in the car (taking a 2 hr round trip tomorrow for Thanksgiving), but off the top of my head, in "King Midas in Reverse", the hook is very off on my recording, the words in capital letters; "King Midas with a CURSE, King Midas in reVERSE". Not the the fact that it is vibrato (the note going back and forth rapidly), but rather that the vibrato seems "off" ... like it was me trying to do it instead of some really great vocal group! I'll try to remember to bring it in the car, and report back if I notice anything else. Happy Thanksgiving all!

Mmm. I wouldn't call that out of tune, I'd call it close harmony.
